Crashes in DX10?
At random points the game will freeze and crash. I know for a fact I can easily run this game.(Isn't that the point of gaming computers??) Should I just switch to DX9 or is there a solution to this? Someone help!

Found a workaround deeper in the forum. Hop into the install directory and lauch DMC4Launcher.exe then choose DX9 or 10. just tested and got through 2 missions, no crashes.
I believe this fix but i feel like there will be a patch? Especially since a lot of ppl are addressing this issue?

So is Capcom going to fix this issue at some point so I don't have to keep that windows update uninstalled?

Uninstalling this update works.
I doubt that Capcom will fix this especially this game is from 2008.
Maybe we get the new Special Edition and I bet this game wont have this problem anymore, but seriously, the game is great and an amazing PC port! Its not really Capcoms fault that this update lets DX10 of Devil May Cry crash. I wonder for what this update is.
Or just run DX9 since this doesnt have this crash problem.
Í wonder if only Win7 users have this problem or also Win8 users.
Maybe Win 8 or the new Win10 dont have this problem anymore, who knows.
Or its even worse and they have but there isnt an update to uninstall since this "fix" is already inbuilt into the system :'D. I hope not... But since im using Windows 7 actually I dont even care.
You should maybe write Microsoft this problem and tell them about this update causing DMC4 DX10 to crash. I doubt that they will care but who knows, maybe they will release a hotfix or something like that.

Do you even have this update installed?
And what Windows system are you using?

weird. i have been playing on DX10 just fine for the last couple of days. played 3 hours straight without a single crash. i must be very lucky. i run windows 8.1 :)

I guess that this update was only published like this on Windows 7.
So only Windows 7 seems to be affected with the crashed when the named update is installed.
Its an update which updates DirectX btw so no wonder.

actually, this wasn't the case a few years back. windows 7 was just fine with DX10. but i believe some microsoft update has broken it. i'm glad its not happening in windows 8.1. Resident Evil 5 also had the same issue. crashed on DX10. but i have recently have upgraded to windows 8.1. so i might give it a try if they actually fixed this or not.

No it wasnt the case from the beginning.
An update for Windows 7 published Beginning of 2013 broke it for Capcoms games. No other games that have any sort of problems in DX10 or 11. So RE5 is also affected by this? Didnt tried it, I wanted to buy it sometime when steamworks is integrated. Without the update installed its no problem anyway. Or Windows 10 is already released then.

I have no problems in the game.
