[POSSIBLE SPOILERS] The Room 3 True Ending
I've been debating this for some time now, as I've played the mobile version of The Room 3 before. I'm just wondering, which ending could be the true ending? Because if the True Ending is the Escape ending, then the story simply ends there. However, with the Imprisonment, the Release and the Lost endings there could possibly be a continuation of the story, though I don't entirely see how it could be continued from the Imprisonment ending or the Lost ending. I've yet to play Old Sins, so for now I'm going to assume one of the four endings is the true ending.

While I really enjoyed the post-game optional puzzles, I kind of feel like imprisonment is the canon ending, with the others written in for people who are unsatisfied with a "bad" ending

Hmm. I feel like the "Imprisoned" ending is a bit too easy for the true ending. I feel like it's one of the three "optional" endings that is the true ending.

I haven't played Old Sins as i don't have a phone, judging from the name and the trailer it doesn't follow on from 3, i'm guessing it takes place in the past.
If it is a sequel it doesn't appear to take place on a maze planet (thank god), or Aztec space mars, so i think he successfully escapes on the boat because there's no reason why another puzzle box couldn't just magically appear whenever it felt like it, or a letter appears which lures him to the house in the trailer.
But the new game probably being a prequel leaves this one on a cliffhanger for now.

Escape is the possible canon ending. Imprisoned is off the list cause we know the protagonist is smart enough to get his fortune read by maggy before entering the clock tower. Same goes for release and lost. According to A.S. he is very intelligent and curious, so it only supports this theory even further.

Old sins takes place in 1908, the room one and two takes place in 1903.
