Does this game allow you to save at will...
,,,or is it one of those console ports with the dreaded checkpoint system...or, worse still...no saves at ALL?
I would really love to purchase this game, especially at its current price point, but I don't have more than a half hour or so at a time to play PC games lately. So...save game slots, I hope?

No save game slots, but i think it will auto save pretty much every few minutes.

Oooh that's usually a no-go for me. I've read people complaining about having to quit out or stop playing, only to have them have to resume an area/puzzle(etc) from the beginning again upon playing this game again.
I to this day do not understand why all PC game DEVs don't incorporate multiple save game slots. I mean; this used to be a staple of adventure or puzzle games. Thank you for responding.

When you quit to menu it saves your progress at that time.

If you stop for a tea break etc you don't lose any progress or items collected.
Yep, there's literally no problem with the saves, I dunno what's there to say. It saves when it quits, it saves every few minutes. And I never had anything get rolled back, personally. So then what's the point of save slots?

The game automatically saves your progress as you play. I normally don't like these type of games, but it works fine in this game because it literally saves after every bit of progress you make. It doesn't matter if you open a new door, solve a puzzle, or pick up an object, every bit of progress will cause your save to be updated.

It does not wait for you to exit the game to save either, it is always saving in the background as you are making progress. This means that if the game crashes, you should not lose any progress.

Yeah, but it also means once you're in an area that needs to be finished you can't go back. Like the end scenes. If you go in, and then decide, oh i missed something, you can't go back. Stopping and entering back in the game will just give a continue sequence. You have to do an ending that may have already done although it's not a problem to the game.

I was at the end of chapter 2 (got the achievement) and quit the game using the menus. When I come back in I am at the start of Chapter 2. VERY annoying. I cannot trust whatever this game thinks it's doing as saves after this.

But this is literally only true for the ending sequence and that only takes 5 minutes anyway.

Yep! Works pretty good.
I've solved the issue, I used a wrong character in my profile_name.
Thanks.
