Do I need to play The Room 1 and 2 first to understand the story of 3?
Hi! Is there an interconnected story between this game and The Room and The Room 2?

I would rather play them in order if the story is important. But if this is a standalone experience, I'd be happier just getting 3 since it seems to be the best of the series and is currently on sale.

I played The Room 1 many years ago and really enjoyed it. Don't remember much of the plot, though.

No. One really doesn't even really have a story, just puzzle boxes to solve.
That being said, they are all Very well made games and I would certainly endorse getting all of them when the prices are good!

Agreed! There is no 'story line' exactly, and each one can be a standalone game. Each are great in their own, I recommend playing all 3!

so everyone just passes the story? i mean if you read all the texts you find the story goes actually quite deep. With other dimensions demons, the NULL Object and everything. and everything is connected. So i feel like its better to play all games if you really want to get into the story. Ofcourse you can just ignore it and play for the puzzles then you dont need the story. But i found it to be the only puzzle game where the story is really interesting. And the Puzzlesbetter then everything before. I played every fingle game over 10 times so far But you should definetely play the first one on mobile. It has some gyro features where you need to turn your phone in different ways to solve puzzles, i really dont know how it is done on the PC version.

not really, but it helps a lot, also a good idea for a bunch of reasons.

@Ioanna_GR Why would you do that, story is so interesting, and I don't understand why everyone ignores it.

I mean no, but you should

Games can be played standalone.

However, even if you don't bother to read the letters and notes putting together the store, I still suggest playing in order. Think of them as levels 1 to 3, so starting later may diminish the experience when you do finally play the earlier one.

Cannot speak to the 4th "Old Sins" as to date that is for mobile only.
I agree. I do think there is a story but you could by pass the notes you find along the way and just focus on the puzzle aspects but I wouldn't recommend it. I think it all ties together to do both.
So while I guess you could play it out of order I would probably suggest to anyone who hasn't played any of The Room games yet to start with 1 and work their way through them in order.

I really hope they do a pc version for 4 because I don't see that yet, only that for IOS and Android. :<

I"m going to replay 1 when I finally finish 3 since I haven't played that in a long time ( finished 2 and 3 but 3 has extra endings you can do so working on that).

These are the types of games that I replay once a year, hopefully with enough gaps in between that i forget enough of the solutions. Sadly, the more times i've completed, the more I remember even if it has been 12 months. I'm desperately waiting for The Room Old Sins port for PC, but that is probably still another year away.

In the meantime, I highly recommend The House of Da Vinci. It is the same style of game by another studio. It's basically just like the room series, but I'd say the puzzles are slightly more difficult. And I think they have a sequel in the works as well.

The whole lore really wasnt developed yet in number 1. It sort of is there but not really and i doubt it adds much. But get it anyway. Fantastic game. All three are amazing.
