Hand of Fate 2
Cards you ALWAYS(or almost) bring with you?
So which cards do you feel are a must have in most challenges?

I'm still missing like 5 challenges or so but so far i'd say Goblin Town is almost always on the deck.

Goblin town and maiden are for me the only 2 good platinum cards in a general fashion, the other are good only on a few select challenges, some are just not good at all (compared to other options availlable on platinum slots). (And I still don't understand lady of the lake, tried 2 times, never did a thing)

As far as regular cards, I like carriage of the dead (basically free 20 gold(average) + decent chance of getting 2x food with gambler's chance), thomas the ogre (almost 2 equipment guaranteed), Yvonne's cottage (a powerfull blessing with an easy gambit and 1x food guaranteed), dwarven haggler (don't if bug or not, but you can offer him nothing and still have the gambit, on huge success you will get gold + equipment for basically nothing and no risk). Those would be my no brainers, rest is entirely dependent on the challenge played.

For equipment, Gladiator helmet is a no brainer, this item is just silly OP (Basically 1x food each combat + 1 free blessing per map + 10 armor for no drawback like whaaaaat?), as is empire armor (decent protection and the effect is too good for those pesky card gambits)

Anything that gives gains based on gambits, like Thomas the Ogre. I don't like combat cards since it takes too long. Also the Dream card that makes you replay a previous encounter is a must have.

Some good suggestions here.

Aye, those two are 90%+ for me, if you get the dice blessing too you are basically set for any dice challenge that are not perfect 18 as the target.

With Grifter's and a little practice wheels are also nearly 100% desired outcome.

Forgotten Dreams, Little Devil, Dwarven Haggler, Ring of Damnation, Saint Tala's Day (Think I have the names right.) I mean, no it's not really all that worth it, but the Eternal Hope unique interactions are hella fun.

For more practical grinding, Gambling Hansel to score good anti-RNG, Thomas the Ogre for tons of easy free gear, Unimpressed Farmer to fix food, Elder's Gift to set myself up with good gear, still forgotten dreams because it's broken as ♥♥♥♥.

Little Devil literally salvaged my Temperance challenge from certain doom!
Finding it very valuable on these last challenges... curses are too strong.

Agree man, I have been gradually replacing my combat gain cards for some suggestions I found here, like Mystic Island and Caravan Robbery.

Death's Garden is also pretty good, it's just tons of free food with zero gambit, idk there might be a catch?

Well it's a platinum card that gives 3 food gains. For comparison, Mystical Island is a regular card that gives 3 any gains + item for single easy wheel spin (just don't stop on the only failure, stopping on monster means fight, but does not reduce rewards).

Also, full food set: Harvest Axe, Gluttony Armor, Gladiator's Visage makes food trivial as long as you have something to fight.

I can't ever seem to keep Lion Heart out of my deck, having an extra 150+ HP makes combat a breeze and lets me focus purely on the gambits. As to cards I almost always add, I have a soft spot for Pauper Plague even though it's such an early game card. Mostly because the choice is either fighting Empire to get some food or fighting corrupted with the help of the Empire for some gold. Whenever I draw that card I always seem to need one or the other and I'm always up for fighting the Empire. Kallas' smug minions need to taken down a peg.

A lot of the platinum cards are situational or don't fit into every situation. Lion Heart is good for every situation.

You utter fool. Obviously it's the lady that from Illicit Trade.

Depending on the encounter and your play style. I usually go for Equipment gain cards like Thomas the ogre, crab cave, the platinum illicit trade, mysterious island, food trade market, blessing trade market. Many of the food encounters like Yvonne's house (that's always a must for me). For equipment cards also depends on how good you are in combat. If you are very confident go for Imperial armor and the "no hit helmet" as I call it (the one that gives a blessing on flawless combat) gladiator helmet I think its called. and all the rings for improved gambits. In some situations where I find certain fights(mostly boss fights) I get lion heart instead of the platinum wheel ring.

ENCOUNTERS :

Deep waters
An (usualy) pretty easy fight for a free equipment and a gain card

Fallen treasure
Free equipment with minor penalty (only one pain card) if you fail an easy pendulum

Inn by the sea
Same as deep waters

The waterfall of youth
good blessing and free food with even better blessing if combined with

The maiden
always useful especially with the previous card's blessing (too bad it's a platinum)

Pauper plague
easy money or less easy food so pretty good

Thomas the ogre
free equips woohoo

EQUIPMENTS :

Dazzling blade
Probably my favourite weapon as it is good with both steel and frost enemies and decent against the rest

Glutonous armor
food is never a problem with this one and can get to crazy defense very fast

Exquisite sword
sell it to buy the equipment piece you need (also known as deck thinning strat :p)

Encounters:
Fate Card (Black Knight Fight) is one of if not the best card in the game with one easy fight (doable even with villager's ax) yeilding up to 3 equipment!? yes please!
Thomas is always there as well for basically free equipment
Lost Equipment (free equipment for a paltry easy pendulum and even if you lose it's only 1 or 2 pain cards for failure/huge failure respectively)
Temple Prayers (I always go for gold zealot and then combine it with bounty hunters helm, armor of gluttony, brigand sheild helloooooo +15health+1food+1gold gain card+1 life gain card every. single. combat.)
I like cave of wonders just to automatically get gaurenteed lion's potion (the only artifact I EVER use but is ridiculously good giving a free +150 health +15 max health making fighting trivial)
St. Tala's day if I'm expecting gambit heavy mission otherwise Goblin town/ Fair Maiden
Forgotten Dreams; unfortunately I discovered how powerful it was late in the game but now it's almost always there.
Deep Water usually very easy combat but if it's tough then a very reasonable dice roll to escape
If it's a long map the Fae field is stupid good getting gauranteed +1 blessing per level in exchange for 5 food and 1 blessing (I usually just take necromancer's call as a supply to fill the latter requirement)

Equipment:
Always, always, always Armor of Gluttony. It's simply hands down the best armor and imo the best item in the game. the only time I don't take it is during the world.
Dazzeling Blade (best weapon in the game imo)
Harvester Blade
Peeler
Brigands Shield
Ram Shield
Lion's Potion
Bounty Hunter's Helm
Gladiators Helm (Free Food, Blessings, and no Fame requirement? what's not to like?)
