Questing Mace is the biggest disappointment in this game
First of all, I'd like to say that I absolutely adore this game, it's just better all around compared to previous one, which I liked quite a lot
Now to the Questing Mace, the biggest disappointment in game
To those who are wondering if it's worth to do line of this weapon, I want to say that I think it's not worth it. At all.
First of all, there are 10 challenges in it, which requires at least 10 playthroughs with it, killing different monsters, couple of which are somewhat rare.Yet it would be fine, if reward was worth it.
It's not worth it at all
I mean really? Weapon that drains 50% on your health upon equipment, has mediocre damage and it's active - a big burst of damage - works kinda wonky with armor. I need to build a deck around it, just to be able to use it safe-ish
Oh well. At least I've got an achievment.

Indeed. I don't think I'll be bothering with the Questing Mace, or the Deadly Forest questline at all in future playthroughs. It just kind of wastes time and energy, and losing half your current HP off of maximum just makes it too dangerous to use over other options. Now, if it did half your maximum HP in just plain damage and you got to heal it up, then it would be worth something. If you are half injured, then it would kill you if you thoughtlessly equip it. Do well and build up your health, then you will be unstoppable. Oh well, at least it's a normal card and not a Platinum.

Yeah, I was expecting the final reward for the Questing Mace to be some sort of epic mace with just a great damage value or bonus against everything. Something that would make sense with all the effort you put in. Instead, you get a weapon that is absolute garbage. It makes no sense at all.

I could have maybe accepted the sword if say you gained life on every hit or something (so while you have a tiny max health pool, you're constantly healing in battle). But as it is, there is no reason to ever use that weapon.

Huh, I love that weapon. Nice damage for a sword, great finisher for most enemies, and max health cabln always be increased.
Also wanted to say that the weapon was a major disappointment.

After all that effort, I was expecting a special upgrade, not a side-grade which was full of tradeoffs. It looks pretty in my inventory, but I'd have to contrive a deck especially for using it, and even then, I'd be disappointed in the regular damage output. :(

Love the game, but felt like this aspect of it was a slap in the face.

Yeah, this game make all the quest really well, but the reward for pretty much every quest just doesn’t pay off the build up.

Also, I would appreciate it if we get to visit the forest one more time before being granted that weapon.

Yeah the reward was definitely a let down considering how long it takes to get. I'm pretty good at the combat, so using it in combat with lower HP isn't really that big of a deal, but with how easy it is to draw pain cards due to good old fashion RNG, I don't ever bother to use it. It's not a bad weapon, but it doesn't have enough power to make it worth the tradeoff.
Lemmington Nov 28, 2017 @ 12:28am
I've never used any other weapon since this weapon unlocked as it is by far the fastest way to end combat with very little risk or downside due to the Monk blessing and all the Max Life cards in the game.

I actually really like the Blood Cresant. I've always had a thing for the "power at a price" sort of weaponry and it fits the bill quite nicely.

If there was anything I would change,it is that it should either be part of your starting equipment (since you worked so hard for it, and the sword has recognized you as its wielder), or have a way to more easily draw it from your deck (like an Elder's Gift for brimstone cards).

I agree with Lemmington and others. Best weapon IMO. Health reduction is laughable since Blood Cresant is a blade-type weapon, which is a huge deal. It can pary, it allows you to use a shield, and it stacks with armour that gives +20max hp if using a sword. The only issue is the reputation requirement, but it is fine

Blood Crescent was the best weapon in HoF1, and it still is in HoF2. Only the Peeler comes any close.

I think it's pretty cool. It's the one crimson equipment card, I was wondering why they added a mention to the bottom of the equipment deck if there wasn't going to be any. Now it all makes sense.

It's the most powerful weapon in the game by far and the weapon abitily kills most enemies in one hit.

I like that the final super weapon is something a bit wierder than a Sword of Infinity +1 that you don't even need by then.

The penalty really is a ♥♥♥♥♥, but it's compensated very well by Malaclypse, Monk's Vitality, which seems to show up every time if you add the 6 gold Prayer card.

The Blood Crescent is an excellent weapon, but it requires planning to use I think. Power at a price. That's the ideal for Brimstone cards, I think.
LordBlade Jan 9, 2018 @ 2:51pm
But I don't find the "power" it gives you to be worth it. You get a miniscule amount more offense at a massive penalty.

Now if it was something like double the damage of other weapons, sure, that would make sense. But for such a piddly bonus, it's just not worth the effort.
Cuaroc Jan 9, 2018 @ 3:03pm
Personally, I find it one of if not the best weapon in the game. Especially if you add a few encounters that give you Max Life.
Ninian Jan 9, 2018 @ 8:38pm
The idea is that the Blood Crescent is for people who simply do not ever get hit in combat. If you think of your health as a buffer for pain cards and naught else, it's a really really good weapon that's worth the trouble of unlocking. But getting to the point you just simply don't take damage anymore is... not an overnight thing. And it's not for everyone. Because, yes, the drawback is extremely steep for a non-equivalent benefit.

Brimstone cards aren't supposed to be "worth it" to the average player, with moderate to decent rewards for extreme risk or penalty. It's meant to feel like playing with fire to a questionable degree. In general, I don't think they're ever meant to feel like the optimal choice, but still being attractive to certain people. In that regard, I think the Blood Crescent is an ideal example of a Brimstone card.
