Devil Gold Token Help
This one's got me utterly stumped. I've tried everything I could think of but the result never changes.

I figured the key was finding a way to best the evil dude without needing the potion so I could let Theophilus drink it. But the only idea I had was to get one of the requirements without his help. I managed to save up 150 gold on my own and thought I was sitting pretty. But alas, he still had all failure cards at the end.

Any tips would be appreciated!

To win the gold token you must give the vial to Theophilus and still go on to save all your companions.

Tricky trick mr. dev. Think about what cards you could put in the deck that would help bridge the gap on the last part.

Thanks Jonstrosity ! I was wondering how to do that too, but now I know :)

Hmm I can only think of one card offhand that might help but I'll have to look through with that in mind. At least now I've got somewhere to start, thanks!

Hah, I was just gonna comment on that challenge. Finally got the Gold Token myself after several tries, and I both love and hate this challenge. I don't know if it's the intended way, but what I did was (DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU WANNA FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF)
use the Desert Trek card and fill up the final map with desert encounters, then walk to the fort. You'll get hit for half your health so I recommend making sure you have the Lion Heart artifact with you. This challenge is also great to get the Desert Trek token since all the gambit buffs, Ariadne and Theophilus' potion make it super easy. I also wonder if it might be possible with cards that boot you to a random encounter, like Fairy Circle and Goblin Town.

I did the same thing Serpit. Also there's that card the let's you repeat an encounter as well, that one has come in handy many times for me. I used it to spawn the desert tile on the last part since i drew it in the beginning.

After my fifth attempt on this challenge I figured I do not have the right tools for the perfect ending and I decided to look for hints or solutions. Turns out I was right. I never thought about desert trek as a possible solution for this challenge, but that is simply because I don't have that card in my possession.
Would you be so kind to explain how do you get the desert trek card?

Well, it's a pain to get unless you can game the chance game and follow the cards. You need to complete the pickpocket card token the one where you have to steal 4 times in a row with increasing difficulty. This gets you caravan raid, which is a wheel challenge where you need to get a map. You can spin it more times for loot, but if you manage to stop it on the map, you got the token from caravan raid. You have limited respins btw. The token from caravan raid gets you the desert trek card, that has it's own token needed to unlock the final step of the questline with the thief, but I'll refrain from spoiling that.

As an extra note: The first card in that questchain is the market pickpocket card. You should have gotten it from one of the early missions. Completing that one (it contains 2 card gambits) gets you the pickpocket card Avenger talked about.

Also, you can complete it without using the desert card. The trick is that you get the Theophilus encounter four times, but can complete his chain in only three encounters.

Complete the Theophilus chain with the first three cards, drink the potion and kill Theophilus. But since he's an immortal creature, he will get some kind of magic offscreen respawn and you will encounter him again at his fourth card, letting you complete his chain a SECOND time. Since you already have the blessing, you can give the second vial to Theophilus and complete the mission the regular way.

I'm not sure if this works if you give Theo the vial first.

It does, I gave him vial than drank myself.

Without the desert card, the proper way to do it, (repeating the final encounter seems to be patched out or an inconsistent glitch), you will get three necessary cards for completing the level normally, i.e. stealing the potion and winning the long shot card game. The cards you get are two encounters, the dwarven haggler and the little devil. These cards have a secondary utility of giving your the angel feather and devil horn. The dwarf will trade a piece of equipment, and a card game that gets easier the better the item you give him. The devil has a tricky pendulum test. The third card you need to play is a supply card, the wring of damnation. From the camp, you use this relic to summon Thephisicles or whomever to make another potion, granting you the same blessing as if you were to have stolen it. Make sure to have another three blessings, I suggest putting St. Tala's Day in your encounter line up, and also choosing Fate's Path and Necromancer's Call in your supplies. Get some equipment to make pendulum and card trials easier and absolutely let Adrianne add another critical success. Also, give the potion to the wraithe in the regular encounter. Just... do the desert card.

To try to answer your last part I was lucky enough to get 2 displacement cards in the final stage of the challenge. But either it's impossible or I was unlucky both times since they transported me to the devil card (which is always open). This is when only the devil card and the fort card remained.

Gotta say, I did not enjoy the gold token challenge. Not only was it not very clear on how to get it, but also you may not be even aware of cards that can help you solve this challenge.

It's a real devil of a puzzle.

But yeah, this is the sort of thing that makes me reach for the wiki :)
The repeat an encounter card is Forgotten Dreams. From what I can tell, it always spawns on the last floor of this level. So that + Desert Trek pretty much guarantees you can get to the final encounter. After that, you face a tough fight at half health so I recommend at least bringing a healing potion with you. If you've unlocked Lion Heart, so much the better. Some high armor anti-Empire equipment wouldn't hurt, either...
