Report a translation problem
we play it as team (GF and a good friend + me) all together sitting in front of my tv. the disscussions are great should we do it or not etc ;) (realy hoped for a coop mode in HoF2)
the combat is ok, a little bit like the batman arkham series.
i would say, play it
I personally love the combat and can't see why so many people think so poorly made.
And as someone who 100%'ed HoF1 I highly recommend you pick up the first game. It's a real gem.
If you want some more info on the first game check out my review.
Long Answer: Hell Yes!
Honestly, there's so much content to be explored, that it makes the replayabilty great. Also it's very atmospheric and you usually don't spend too much time into combat, only if you wish. Mostly you will manage your stats within the board. That because you can play safe or risk. The way you play (eg. scaling and deck based on being cursed) will reflect in the difficult of each battle despite it being Batman styled. This can make the game almost impossible to beat, sometimes, in the Warlord fate (Hard mode btw). I must warn you, though, that you MUST play it with the DLCs, which I don't know if they are free or not. The game pre-DLCs kinda sucks, in comparison.
Bro, take it from me; It's GREAT! I dont quite understand the mention of unpolishment, since I had a blast on it (Tryna get all the achievement, beat all the wildcards etc), the fact that you cant finish the game in one go so you collect tokens at the start, and the STORIES that come with it.
Yeah, if you're in that much doubt; wait for summer sale and buy it cheap. I dont think you're going to regret this one!
Also unpolished? I know the beta had some flaws example the "google translation" in another languages that doesnt even make sense. However that is fix as far as i can see and the game is really a lot of fun.
I had to check in on this because it totally sounds like something we'd do but it's also a terrible idea. We did have google translated text for internal testing purposes, but it never went out to the public - not even in early access. We figured people would not recognize it as a temporary measure and take offense, so we held off until our translation services were done.
If you've got any examples of odd or awkward translations in the game I'd love to see them! Not just because they're usually pretty amusing, but also to make sure that stuff doesn't happen again.

For example: Staub-Wenzel (Jack of Dust). Wenzel is a very old german word that is not used in the past hundertyears. There are better words for it like "bube" that is "old" but understandable in the old german language for a boy or card in cardgame (and still used). Wenzel is a word nobody understand.

Start at 10:39:
The quest text is just unreable.
Translation: It was said, that you are a sharp-sighted adventure "but could be worse from lady luck opposite the nature to protect." farewell mortal. (first part of the sentence is ok but the " " text is for in german unreadable and sound very like a google translation)
There are another errores like:
sterblich (adjective) = sterblichER (noun).
wrong translation: Farewell, sterblich (video 10:39)
better translation: Leb wohl, Sterblicher.
Word "farewell" doesnt exist in german. But most of them understand it anyways.
This example above is why i came to the conclusion a translator was use because "sterblich" nobody will write that on a end of a sentence. Except a translator didnt understand the entire sentence and just word to word translated it.
In the final version most of this errores are corrected but not all of them (i dont care because it is a english game)
P.s: The "old" german look (how the letteres are written) that are used in quest add a lot of old flair to it. So even with small tricks like changing letteres to older styl is a good way to improve the game.
The token system and icon system is very well done and make a lot of fun. It also ask the player to do the quest again to get the token.
The layer feedback (like the undead that lose there shield or head in the fight) make a differents how polished a game really is. This are just "non" gameplay mechanics that doesnt have a effect in the game however this small details the people will notice. I hope i will see this in hand of fate 2 ;).
Honestly, I wouldn't blame you for playing anyways; it's fun. :)
