the windows versions were 16 bit executables I believe, which would mean the XP VM would likely be the only way to get them to work since 64 bit windows will not run 16 bit executables. Have had this problem with a lot of "turn of the era' win95 games. If you have the pro version of your windows version, get the xp VM, it free. Any modern machine is ample enough for win95 era games, I've been playing "shivers" lately and that's also an FMV game.
If like me, you have an issue with using custom resoltuions and releases being stupid about the default dosbox config they give, just fill in the "fullresolution" line with "=desktop" or your resoultion "=wxh" in the reb_conf and reb2_conf files. my filenames and parameter names aren't exactly correct, but if you halfway know what you're doing, you should be able to figure it out. I also recommend the output method "overlay" instead of "surface", it tends to display better on widescreen monitors.
But the Win95 version is hard to run on newer PCs due to an error.
