Linux support?
Has anyone managed to play these games in FreeDOS or something?
Wine maybe?
I know these games are old and originally for MSDOS but... oh well.

It's using DOSBox even on Windows, so there shouldn't be any problems with supporting it Linux, either.
So, now with Steam Play / Proton and all, experiences anyone yet?

It is still a DOSBox game, so you can use native DOSBox to launch the game instead of launching the supplied Windows version of DOSBox through Proton.

Doesn't start at all. No matter the version of proton, or the overlay or other settings in .conf. Personally I put it o the "try later on windows" shelf - mind I do get most oldies running on proton.

had them installed on an external drive steam lib. Now they are on the OS Drive and start.
Works 100% via Proton. This i now know.

I've been playing Rebel Assault 1 using the Boxtron compatibility layer. It's been a while since i tried to play any dos games any other way, so it would be hard for me to compare, but i could imagine there being some sort of issue with running linux to run a windows program to run a dos program.
Proton 5.0 works the best (fixes the game starting in a small box upper right with Experimental) - joystick is Logitech Attack 3.
