Can't bind units to # keys (solved)
So I haven't played this game for awhile and decided to reinstall yesterday night. Well, I can't use the ctrl+# to bind units to the numerical keys to manage units for some reason which makes the game very tedious to play. If anyone has any ideas on this, it'd be appreciated. Thanks.

Update: Okay, I can bind units but only to #'s 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. 1, 2 and 3 will not work when using ctrl+#. Any known fixes? Some weird bug? Not I'm using Windows 10 OS but have the game running in compatibility for Windos 7 OS with admin privilages on.

alt+tab. than return to the game again
alt+tab didn't do anything. I went ahead and did a clean re-install and that didn't help either. What a weird glitch.

I don't know if this will work, but this is usually one of the steps I take if something is not working properly.

Right click the game in your library and choose Properties. Then select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.

That was my first step. After that I did a full clean install and that didn't work either. I should've noted earlier this is the first time I've played this game on Windows 10, I don't know if that may be an issue, but after re-playing the campaign, this is honestly the ONLY issue this game is having. Just not being able to bind units to keys 1, 2 and 3. I know it doesn't seem like much, but that's three control groups I can't use and well, this is a freakin RTS. Control is power.

Yep. Just bought the game. Having the same problem. Pretty frustrating, as 1-3 are always my most used hotkeys in RTSs.
Well at this point, I've done everything I can possibly think of. Clean installation, file verification, al-tab'ing, playing with the game options, checking key-binds under the game options section, running game as admin, running game under combatibility mode for Windows 7 OS. I even borrowed my room mates keyboard just to make sure my own key board wasn't having some kind of disagreement with me and what games I was playing with it.

I am at a total loss here. As said, the game runs perfectly fine otherwise. But due to force of habit and placement of hotkeys... not having the use of keys 1, 2 and 3 for binding squads of units becomes strangely frustrating in that I have to slow down my speed to reach over and use bind keys for lesser used units such as 4, 5, 6, and 7. So I give up.

If anybody out there has found a fix for this, that'd be awesome. I've already spent a cumulative three hours on the internet looking for a fix, but it seems this is either a rare bug or the world is conspiring and we're actually in the Matrix.

Figured it out! There is currently a glitch with Geforce Experience's share/record function that disables/delays ctrl + 1, 2, 3. If you want to use those hotkeys, go into Geforce Experience's SETTINGS, then GENERAL, and switch the bar from right to left near where it says SHARE (to turn it off). Unfortunately, this means you cannot record, but it will give you access to ctrl + 1, 2, 3 back.

Alright, I'm about to go and try this.

Alright, so the turning off "share" in the GeForce Experience works in the original version BUT does disables ALL the ctrl+# key binds in the "new steam version" for some insane reason. Well, at least now I can play the game with all my control groups. Thanks a whole bunch @Dingoes8MeBabies :steamhappy:

Weird. I'm playing the steam version and it worked... I have a feeling this glitch is pretty complex. Hopefully, they fix this soon. I guess this has been a problem since mid-October, and they still haven't patched this out. My heart goes out to you. This has been pretty frustrating experience. Also, you might want to try exiting out of GeForce Experience entirely and see what happens. Good luck.
