STAR WARS™: Rogue Squadron 3D

Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3D has stopped working [UPDATED WITH RESOLUTION]
Can't seem to get the game to start. Launcher appears and I can select joysticks, change control configurations, and do a Dxdiag but that's it. Upon launching the actual game the screen flashes black and appears to change resolution for a split second to 1280x720 (or around there) and then crashes to desktop with the following message "Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3D has stopped working"

If any dev's need a crash log or hardware writeup just let me know.

Windows 7 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 Ti
Nvidia drivers 362.0

EDIT 4/1/2016 10:11PM:

Found a fix for this issue. If you are running an Nvidia video card try forcing the following settings in the Nvidia control panel for the Rogue squadron.exe executable:

Played through the first 6 missions or so with no issues other than the usual camera detaching issue as well as the ship wobble problem that others have seen. Hope this fix helps others.

Have you tweaked with any of the driver settings?
The game really doesn't like trying to force things like Anti-Aliasing On at a driver level. You'll get through the menus fine, but chances are it'll CTD as soon as you get past the screen for selecting your ship.

I have the same problem -___-

I have almost the exact same setup, OP. Try going directly into the directory, steamapps\common\roguesquadron\rogue and playing it from roguesquadron.exe. I got it to work that way.

Thanks for the advice pooh, I just tried your method of launching both roguesquadron.exe, and ROUGE.exe but both end up launching the launcher and have the same outcome as what's in my OP.

Haven't tried this yet, but I'll definitely try that next and report back if I find a working config. Thanks for the advice!

Does anyone know if there been any Dev posts regarding incompatibilities or bug fixes yet?

Thanks,
Pocket

Here the problem continues, but thanks anyway.

I have a NVIDIA card. Had the same problem. None of the suggestions worked for me. What did work was changing the resolution in game from 800x600 to anything else (both higher and lower resolution). Have restarted multiple times and have been able to play.

Considering the Age of this game i highly doub't devs are even going near it, This steam release is the same as the disc version from 1998.
