I ment the PC Version Cheat, NOT The N64 Cheat!
Won't work if you crash right before a cutscene ingame.
If you fail a mission or decide to abort it, you also lose one life (Or Game Over if you fail/abort the mission on your last life). You also restart the mission immediately if you fail it (If you have any lives remaining)
You can collect powerups in certain missions to help things out, but in order to keep the upgrade, you have to pick up the upgrade and then complete the mission (Mission Complete or win any medal from the mission). Failing the mission or Game Overing will NOT let you keep the upgrades!
:EDIT:
nevermind it was working, i was trying to choose it for the trench run level but i guess you can only pick x wing for that
Some missions only have one selectable ship for them. (Most notably the Speeder levels). Most of the other levels only let you select the intended ship until after you beat them the first time.
With the cheat codes and Gold Medals from all missions, you're able to eventually select whatever ship you want for most missions. (Though it's not possible to Gold most missions with a Y-Wing due to it being so slow)
There's a bug with the Infinite Lives cheat that if you crash and destory the last objective you need with 3 Lives and trigger a story cutscene, it'll count as a life lost & bring your life count down to 2.
