Whats the difference between this and N64?
I had the original on the N64 and I friggin love this game. I see it on steam but I see this "3D" extra suffix. Whats the difference?

Plays worse, no Mouse support, a camera bug that zooms out until you change perpective and interface errors.

There is mouse support, but i didn't like it, so fell back to using keyboard only.
About bug: i used first-person mode with disabled cabin decals(can be only set while IN the level). Except for Death Star run. Finished everything fine on all stars.

also glitch with 60fps (bouncing space ships) so maybe use half refresh if you can with the graphics card

Yep, I changed the settings on my Nvidia card in Nvidia control panel for this game's exe to use Adaptive (half refresh rate) under Vertical Sync and that appeared to fix the bouncing around of ships. Haven't figured out how to fix the zoom out bug.

Same game, but slightly glitchy (but you can work around that). Keyboard controls are not as nice as having a controller though. If you're itching to play Rogue Squadron again, then go for it.

That's a shame. I was hoping for prettier graphics, more levels, etc. No such luck huh?

Aside from what's been stated about bugs related to a retro game running on modern hardware, there is no "chicken" level and instead whatever fighter you select will be turned into the AT-ST walker on whatever level you've chosen. There is also no official Buick replacement for the V-Wing but the model for the Buick still exists and can be modded into place (you might be able to find a mod tool for that). There is the higher resolution difference for graphics though this can also be done with an N-64 emulator.

So basically, just play it on P64 for a hassle free experience with everything still intact and the ability to make the game run/look better than it originally did on the N64 thanks to emulator tricks? Yeah I figured that'd be the case, then again I don't really have an N64 to PC controller port. Soon after I first posted this I ended up just replaying the game with that good old fashioned N64 sitting in the TV cabinet. What a blast. A little cumbersome to not be able to play it in the comfort of my own room and so close to the TV and not on a CRT but damn was it worth it.

Maybe, assuming the game is always 30fps on n64

tryed it at 30 FPS by limiting it on my card and all the shaky fighters go away.

3D is the PC version, because it needed a Graphics card Supporting 3D Acceleration.

Yes i remember getting this when it came out n the dude behind the counter at electronics boutique asked if i had a 3d accelerator.

I actually use the Brawler 64 controller from Retro Fighters, think xbox controller with the button layout similar to the n64 controller except the trigger buttons are the z button. Except for not being able to map the triggers it's the best controller for the game in my opinion. I suggest making the c up button thrust and c down boost.

For whatever reason I feel like to GoG version of this game is more stable.
