Linux users: enable the Steam Runtime!
So it has come to my attention that this game, after re-downloading it on Linux to play it again after a few years, is probably in a state of "native executable rot" (by which I mean the native Linux executable doesn't launch anymore when it clearly did in the past - at least on my Arch machine, not sure if this is happening on more recent Ubuntu distros and/or their derivatives).

Looking through the logs, I found mentions of "XError: BadAlloc", "XError: BadDrawable: Invalid pixmap" and other stuff I couldn't entirely make out, but a quick search led me to believe this might be a Unity engine bug or something of the sort - well, not really a bug per se but maybe dependency rot, something that existed on older distros and probably does not anymore because it got updated on more modern distros like Arch. And whatever version of the Unity engine used here couldn't make it up I guess. Can't say for sure as I don't know if this is an isolated case or not, but if anyone using a more recent Ubuntu distro or even Arch (and perhaps the Steam Deck) has the same weird behaviour, try forcing the use of the Steam Linux Runtime for this game (same place as where you force the use of Proton).

For those who care about native Linux ports (like yours truly), and for those who don't want to use Proton for such a simple small game like this or for whatever justified reason (also yours truly), hope this helps. For the devs, probably updating your Unity version might fix it but I'm not entirely sure, couldn't find much regarding those XError BadSomething logs on the internet. But hey, doesn't hurt to try, right? This game's native port was something people paid for after all, myself included.
