If you ever played Aura Kingdom, it's similar to the Eidolon there.
It's basically a pet system. You can equip 3, one of them out with you.
Every senshi has a move, like skill he uses when he's out, and that usually gives a debuff on enemy. They also have an ultimate that gives damage and buffs/debuffs.
Equipped senshi gives bonus stats and the paid senshi has way better stats and moves/ultimate. It's also easier to evolve paid senshi compared to free ones.
To evolve it, you need star energy that you get by using their contract (1x contract = 1x star energy).
Paid senshi requires 6x star energy to evolve to 2-Stars. 4x star energy to evolve to 3-Stars. And 4x star energy to evolve to 4-Stars. I have to mention that to evolve to 4-Stars you need a 4-Star Senshi Key, an item that's almost impossible to obtain without paying. They even added some troll event to make people believe they have chance to get it without paying or gambling on puzzle.
Free senshi requires 10x star energy for each evolution.
Senshi bonus stats can be increased by crafting a specific gem for each senshi, but they made easier to craft that gem and reach max stat on paid senshi.
As an example, for Fina (first free senshi you get), it costs 100 gold to craft an ATK gem and the gem gives 15 to 35 ATK. And for Rita senshi (the only paid senshi I have), it costs 50 gold to craft the gem and increases ATK in 45 to 105.
You get 3 senshi through main quest (but only Fina is really useful) and some as login rewards (recently, the login reward was "nerfed" to take longer to obtain 10x contracts you need to unlock the senshi).
At the moment, there are 3 you can obtain in dungeons: Rita (a really nice senshi), Sakura (useless) and Alice (okay).
But that's just in theory. In reality, it's almost impossible to get Rita and Sakura. Their spawn rate is really low and contracts drop rate is even worse.
Alice is the only one that's actually obtainable.

The game is really nice, but I have to warn you that the game has p2w mechanics.
You can still get 'paid' senshis by getting them from the Astral Puzzle, and 1 Astral Crystal is about 300g (Can also be obtained by joining guild events or forum events). meaning its not only paid senshis anymore.
In Like A Boss event, even Aryn and some other senshi bosses spawns.
You can get ATK gems and other senshi gems from Trio dungeons, they are very easy to do.
Get 8 characters, login for 24 days, and you have 8 contracts a month.
4-Star Evolution Key, can be bought with gold. Also, you can obtain it by collecting LOVE from the event ongoing right now.

What senshi do you have, Thaun? I did my "research" by actually playing the game without spending money.
Astral Crystals are expensive and rng (not that mystery boxes aren't rng, but the rates are better).
If Like a Boss event was hosted once a week like before, that would really count as real chance to get anything. But it's only once a month. If you get 1 contract every 2 or 3 months, it's a lot.
Gem drops from Trio dungeon don't chance the fact that's way easier to cap bonus stats on paid senshi. You would know that if you had any paid senshi. Maybe you should get one and do your "research" :p
About the login rewards, I already said that was nerfed (1 contract instead of 2). And they never said anything about that. People only noticed it because they only got 1 contract at the end of the month. Nothing from Aeria except "GMs can't change it".
And here we can see it would be great if you had access to the end game before talking.
You can't even buy 4-Star Senshi Key in gold. It's price is way above gold cap (cap is 99,999 gold). It's usually sold for 600 AC (around 170k gold).
And the LOVE event is a joke. I think not even 10 people got the "E tile" letter, and when you get that, you have a really small chance to gain the 4-Star Key coupon. It's just a troll event that can and, most likely, will give you the same reward from when you exchance the tiles "LOV" only (that are easily obtainable).
You don't see the problem because you don't have access to any of that.
I am just stating the truth about the game, since I don't have any reason to lie or defend Aeria Games.
If having everything is or isn't the point of the game, that's not for me to decide. Each person plays the way they want, I just want to give them info about how it is in reality.
