I don't really have an answer for your technical issue, but if it's any consolation,
1. "Enhanced graphics" is a bad name for it. Really, all you get is extra grass or snow particles floating around. Nothing is actually enhanced, it's just minimal additional visual clutter.
2. The devs are awful at programming and updates, but they can be intermittently on top of random gaps like this one, so even if you do nothing at all, the issue is likely to subside within a week or two.
You're really not missing anything by not using that setting, though.
