Beast mode? More like little dog mode
Some people were saying, earlier, that Beast grants a bigger physical damage output, the game itself says it, it also says that grants more Ki gain, that surpasses Super Saiyan God (which I'm gonna call "Red" for convenience's sake).
But... I see no difference.
The Beast skill needs 500 Ki to activate, to which is DEPLETES 500 Ki points, something that NO TRANSFORMATION until this point ever did. The physical damage... Doesn't seem anything special, other than a combo chain that really looks just flashy, nothing of bigger damage. Ki gain? Same thing, doesn't look like anything greater than Super Saiyan Red, at all.
So what's so special about Beast, other than a pineapple-sized hair style of white color and bright red eyes?

I mean. What would you have wanted the awoken to be? It acts like any other awoken with benefits and drawbacks (high damage & ki regen but you take more damage).

"Red" doesn't have drawbacks and it only adds to basic attacks and ki regen but literally nothing else.

Beast adds to all damage and grants a combo string over what "red" does.

I'm not thrilled with the defense detriment.

I mean... The transformation has nothing going on for it. Sure, the damage seems to be a bit higher, but compared to Super Saiyan Red, it's nothing special, the Ki gain is not that big at all, and the attacks are not so different. That new combo? Meh, nothing great
Feels like they wasted the chance to make Orange Namekian and decided to have this instead...

Other races got an awoken skill for once. That makes it pretty special already. :cooldownsoda:

I made a transformation guide you can check for reference. Here's the stats on "Little Dog mode", as you call it.

Benefits:
->30% increase to ALL attack damage rivalling the output of SSBE.
->25% ki recovery during combos. (For reference, SSG or "Red" mode is 50%. Not as good, but still quite potent especially if you are an Earthling).
->Probably some movement speed buffs, not sure yet. It tends to be hard to tell visually.
->A custom combo that is the strongest in the game.
->Vanishes at the start of combos similar to that of Saiyans.
->ZERO ki or stamina drain to manage like SSBE or Kaioken. Once you transform all the benefits are yours until you cancel it. This gives it a huge advantage over other powerhouse forms that require ongoing maintenance or sacrifice to sustain.

Drawbacks:
->20% increase to damage received
->500 ki that is spent to activate it
->Tall ass hair that makes your CaC registerable as a sky scraper

The transformation is intended to be a glass canon build, and it definitely has its pros and cons. It is fair to say you do not like it, but I would strongly disagree with the notion that it is underpowered. The only real cost to this transformation is the damage received, as the 500 ki basically costs 1 ultimate attack. Add any damage increasing super soul to this game and even the weakest damage output characters are hitting SSB-tier damage. I put it on my Namekian character and it works great considering I optimised him for Giant form and invested nothing in attack power.

Alright, that's all fine and dandy, but the problem is: I don't feel these differences in game.
With Super Saiyan Red I can see the damage being bigger when the comb lands, I can see the Ki gain in physical fight raising faster. Beast mode doesn't show any of these properties that I could notice, aside from the ki blast attacks' damage being higher.

Apparently Blue and Evolution got buffed that they drain less ki than before.

-10% ki drain for Blue and -~20% for Evolution.

Losing step cancels on SSG is a pretty big drawback. Enough to be considered moot for pvp.

Beast has damage boosts to ALL attacks, adds a long knockback and a consistent stamina break confirm to all races.

I thought we were getting the hair as another wig anyway. Why'd we need a transformation that also puts it on us?

Hair just changing color is preferable IMO.

It doesn't just change your character's hairstyle. It also physically changes the eyes you have equipped -- which is just ridiculous.

I just tried it out on my Majin strike based cac and it is a fairly large improvement over potential unleashed.

Yeah, but everything seems to be an improvement over potential unleashed

Last time I checked it was the only race universal transformation before beast. This gives other races than Sayain some much needed love.

Yeah, that's another problem I see in the game.
Other than Saiyan or Frieza, the game races have nothing good on them. Giant Namekian is just... Bleh, the nimbus cloud, while it's cool, it's not as cool as the other transformations (I refuse to talk about the "pure majin"). I can only hope to see Orange Namekian soon enough...

Pretty sure losing step cancels doesn't really register as a drawback for most people playing the game considering how few people take PVP seriously or otherwise play in such a way that step cancels are a major part of gameplay, but I suppose it does count... technically.
