People who like Broly are likely the same people who would like the Hulk. Broly = pretty much anime Hulk. The series needs a raging sadistic brute character. Does it make him the most interesting character? No. Does it make him the most powerful character? No. Does it make him a really entertaining character to watch when the carnage unfolds? Oh ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, yes, it absolutely does!

Lol agreed. They usually forget the fact hes also Bruce Banner. Not just that, but the Hulk is actually a split entity. Its not literally Bruce Banner, but an entity living inside of him, so to say.

Except for Freeza, no villain had deep background stories. They all hated Goku for some reason. Freeza was the only villain that was active before Goku was even relevant and had a huge empire he ruled for a lot of years. Cell only wanted to be the perfect being, nothing more. Buu was just batsh*t crazy and just wanted to murder and kill and stuff. Didnt care for anything else.

Reason: Villain do not need good character development to be cool. I still think Buu is cool, regardless of his non existant personality. (No he has no personality, he takes them from others). Broly is amongst my favorite, purely because I could see what they could have done with him, like other movie characters. Bojack and Broly could have been better villains if not for a movie that had to end. Bojacks end was actually believeable, but Brolys end was not.

Broly lived his entire life being controlled by his father. He almost got killed by his own king merely because he was afraid of his power. That + the silly crying of Goku made him go insane. He was pretty much in control until he went to that specific form where he went nuts.

Who cares if the Hulk and Broly have a different back story? Of course they do! That's not why most people like them though, is it? No, people watch them for the violence! No one is going to them because they have an interesting personality or whatever. It's because they're giant muscle freaks that rip people apart.

In the sense of why people watch them, and why they're entertaining, yes. It's the same reasons if you're being honest about it. No one ACTUALLY cares about their character. People enjoy watching violence. It's that simple.
