Fixed Dragonball Xenoverse 2 won't Launch

So I've seen a lot of posts about people launching the game and nothing happens. Took me a whole night to fix but this is what worked for me. So your microsoft windows system needs to be updated with the latest update. This is so that you can install the vc redist package properly ( Even though Steam says it has been installed it actually hasn't properly and this is the problem)

So what you need to do :

1- update windows with all the latest updates and restart your pc.

2- After restarting open up properties of DBZ xv2, click local files and then browse local files.

Open Common Redist file.

Open Vc Redist File

Open 2015 file

3- Here you will find the two files Vc Redist x64 and Vc Redist x86. Open each one and click repair.

4- Restart your pc and you should be good to go.

Note: the reason why your pc has to be updated to with the latest updates is because if it's not ,you won't be able to repair the Vc Redist files properly and you can't play the game without them.

I am currently trying to update windows but it is stuck on "Checking for updates..." Any idea on how to fix that? I looked it up online but none of the things seem to work. I even let it stay there for 12 hours while I was sleeping, nothing seems to work.

Have you followed steps 2-4 ? after you've installed / repaired the VC Redist files does it say complete/finished or does it say failed/repair?

What version of windows do you have ?

There's a chance that your OS is already updated and your problem might be somewhere else. What does the game do when you try to open it ?

Sometimes VC ++ may fail to install or repair .Install this update restart pc and VC ++kicks in https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49093 (works for me on WIndows 7 x64)

@Paragua i used to have the same problem back in October when i first bought the game and it took me a whole weekend to fix my pc to run the game cause i had a fresh installed windows 7 with the additional bug of windows update system being stucked in the "searching for windows updates" screen for hours and not downloading anything. I dont remember exactly the sollution cause i tried many fixes that i saw in web and in youtube but i can tell you some basic steps i think helped me:


Firstly have your windows system Updated (Silverlight,NET framework etc) .
Secondly and in my opinion the main reason of everything is the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 redistributable.I went form control panel/add-remove programs and repaired it many times,also you need to have efore this step, as i remember Microsoft Visual C++ : 2005,2008,2010,2012,2013,2014.

Last step and good checkpoint. If you can just open Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 (even if it starts but is does not running and you have only a white screen) without the error "missing dll" that causes the '.exe' to crash before launch,then you can also open Xenoverse 2.At least it worked for me.

P.S.1: Try every step, especially when you launch .exe applications either Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 or Xenoverse 2, and always choose "Run as Administrator"

P.S.2: During the instalation or fix of microsoft visual studio if you keep having errors that stop installation try to do the instalation with your antivirus switched-off for a while.

i have done ALL, it just works when i disable the video card, yes disabling the video card the game starts normally, but obviously it works slowly cuz no video card.
If i enable the video card, the game says "Xenoverse 2 has stopped working".

I'm running Windows 10 and it's updated. I've tried repairing VC++ multiple times. I am still having this problem. I try to launch the program and nothing happens. I get the little Steam pop-up that says "preparing to launch dragonball xenoverse 2" and then there's nothing. No loading screen, no black screen, no error message. It's as if I never clicked anything at all.

Just purchased this game and I am extremely disappointed so far, as I have not been able to play it. Please help

There isnt a Common Redist file in the dbx2 files, Only bin, cpk and EasyAntiCheat
