Combos not connecting? Art of Battle/Regular play
Very first mission, Art of Battle...where you learn basic commands and combo attacks. Nailed movement, jumping, blah blah easy.

However, they give you an opponent. Using a 360 controller...hit X a ton of times, I'm noticing not every punch is connecting and it fails. It managed to glitch and let me continue on, which is great after 30 min. But then I got stuck on XXXYY for over an hour. XXX hits, First Y hits...you teleport on the last Y, and it NEVER connects the hit...the character just swings his leg in the air and completely misses his target....and it's not a combo you need to line up after teleporting, it's all automatic if you hit the right buttons. Every video I've seen of this mission on youtube (haven't seen a steam version, just ps4) shows these attacks connecting so easily and fluidly. The one where you hit X a bunch, keeps missing on a jump kick not connecting then proceeding with rapid succession. Is this problem only happening with tall Sayans? How in the world to pass this thing if it doesn't work? Just looking for answers. Thanks!

Bump...

I can't figure it out... Having the same issue... XXXXXXXX was fine.. YYYYY took ages now I'm stuck on XXXYY..

It misses every time! Tried holding the last Y down, pressing it later, sooner, etc. Nothing is working!!

Someone mentioned that reducing fps cap to 30 helps, but I saw no real difference. Still missing combos half the time. Namekians and Saiyans seem to be the worst offenders.

I found out from reading other threads that tall/small size characters were never calibrated correctly like in xenoverse1. Because of this there's a delay for longer arms, longer legs means that glitch on the X combo's to jump which automatically misses unless the target is facing away from you. Small builds using races like frieza/majin have arms to short to even connect. Makes some great physics in game for a hit to actually touch a character to connect....but when completing missions to get your 100% requires these combos be complete...it misses the whole point of create-a-character.

I noticed that basic combos don't connect as easily if you have your frame rate set to Variable instead of 60 or 30.

Make sure to stick to your target before launching the combo. If you don't the first hit is replaced by a dash and get you screwed.

The only problems I've had is with Y+B and ^+A in combos. I either get a lone Y or B, or I get just A.

I also cannot connect the light/light/heavy combo. Thin build, medium height, male saiyan. Incredibly frustrating and ruins most of my combos, how has this not been addressed by the devs.
Should I find the dragon balls and resize my character? What size is optimal.

Ya but the resolution may have fixed it for your monitor but there are different settings for every pc screen to make it optimal. This does not look like a graphical error at all. 30fps should not matter if the pc can easily go higher. There's 0 stutter, so not understanding why a particular set parameter is a fix for all monitors...especially when that's all it's for is the screen layout and not the actual pc's or game's performance/ability to make a single punch connect 2 character models to trigger a damage parameter within the game code. Should be simpilar than this, and that answer is bamco screwed up and depended on character models to touch to trigger the parameter instead of letting a combo playout correctly if it's not blocked/reversed/retaliated against.

yeah im having this issue too. from my experience, it seems to happen with male saiyan heavy combos and gogetas light combo, also Hit has trouble simply maintaining a combo, like he wants to punch someone in the stomach and they're too far away.
