If steam sync is off, if will ask you to create a new save data because your old seems corrupted (because you deleted it locally). If you follow through with the guide and synced XV2 after the transfer of XV1 save data, this new save will be uploaded to the cloud instead of your old one where the transfer failed. :-)

That might be true, thanks! However, disabling steam sync will ensure (in any case) that the data is not synced again until a new save data was created.

Yeah I tried following this, and it didn't work. All it does is create a new save file with the old data on it.

And yes, I followed the guide point for point. :(
