There's a visual cue of when the timing is to be performed, you would've noticed if you bothered to try the challenge more than 5 times before complaining here.
The only timing that matters that is difficult to nail the first time is the Y+B knockbacks, Up+Dash to go behind, and forward+X for the heavy smash. These must be performed at an even pace, and there are visual identifiers on-screen (flashes your character makes) that indicate the combo timing.
If there's even the smallest split-second window where the combo is broken, the AI will perform your trainer's special evasion move. That's the point of the exercise :)
Also try to time for exactly when the animation of the burst dash ends, that'll make it hit.
Also, you have to time when your stick hits the maximum point with the button press. I spent like an hour not getting any of the dashes because I began pressing the stick at the same time as the button, which doesn't seem to work.
I just now sat down and did all of the challenges and they're the dumbest and more infuriating thing, and I'm glad they are GONE FOREVER
Weirdly, I can't do it unless I push exactly up on the analog, not toward. I also have to push it synchronously, not just hold it up.
