It's not worth it when Potential Unleashed has stats close to SSJ2 but with the best Ki regen of all transformations.
I do the full X combo followed by an x4 Kaioken Kamehame-ha (full).
Oh and the Teleport after fully charging a skill is really nice on SSJ3 :D
Super Saiyan has unique abilities that PU doesn't, for starters you warp after using a charge attack or super (not ulti though) to make it easier to hit. You also have a free snap vanish on attack. Not to mention PU also has poor defense compared to SV and SSJ
If you're going for a full kikoha build, Vegeta 2 has the largest raw power of all Transformations in that category. Super Saiyan 3 doesn't boost Kikoha nearly as much, but the basic attack boost is really big, and the damage reduction quite impressive. However, the ki regen is terrible, and will force you to use a Ki Charge skill to do anything of worth.
Finally, my alternative of choice is Potential Unleashed/ Mystic Form. You get buff across the board a little above that of Super Saiyan 2, and the kikoha difference between Super Vegeta 2 is negligible, while having much better ki management. The biggest drawback is the lack of damage reduction, and the fact that you don't get the nifty super saiyan moveset/ teleport.
Really, it all come down to you playstyle. Super Saiyan 3 makes you into a bulky powerhouse, and Super Vegeta 2 turns you into a living ki cannon. Power Unleashed doesn't exarcebate your power that much, but it allows for more flexibility and control, while relying on skill rather than raw power.
