How does the A.I. break stamina with basic attacks???
So, if you play any PQ above missions like 50. (Where the A.I. is set to be normal/hard in difficulty)

Anyone notice that if you use an ultimate, even an instantaneous one, while the A.I. is directly in front of you, even with full stamina, their basic strike stamina breaks you out of your utlimate 100% of the time? Even if they're stamina broken themselves? Why is this? And why can't I do that to them?! I can see if they're on the other side of the map and you try and use a slow ultimate, and they do that that dash around attack that hits you in the back and stamina breaks you, or even them using an actual stamina break, or guard break.... But this is annoying... The get smucked to the ground, stand up, and the first hit of their normal light combo breaks your full stamina...

Also, can someone tell me why MY guard breaks and even heavy stamina breaks do no stop an A.I. from doing their ultimate??? Highly annoying...

Burst dashing instantly breaks your opponent's stamina if he's charging an ultimate. At high level, the AI starts doing that everytime you'll try to do an ultimate without any setup (heavy stamina break for long animation ults, there's no other way to prevent that).

I have noticed the same thing and the only answer I can come up with is that either the stamina break animation for certain NPC characters looks different or the animation simply wasnt done for those characters.

As far as stamina break not working on some ultimates I can only assume thats a bug. I took the melee super that functions as an instant break for situations like that.

X+A, A to stamina break someone charging an ult from a dash.

Hilarious to do to people.

Like others have said, a stamina break will just harmlessly bounce off someone casting an ultimate. But a charged hard, or that boosting attack, will knock them out of the ultimate and break their stamina.

simmilar names of "Stamina break" and "Guard break" doesn't help matters for people that did not already know the difference.

Even I keep forgetting at times and try to use stamina breaks instead, oops.

I just tested it on the last PQ. Soft broke Vegeta SSB's stamina, then was about to shoot the freakin Final Kamehameha to his face only to have him soft punch his way through my stamina!

He kicked my ass so hard I became a Fat Buu from a Saiyan, but then I beat him

Yeah, I know what you mean, what you have to do is break their stamina and hit them once or twice to get them stuck in that recovering animation so they can't attack before using an ultimate. It makes the AI more challenging but it also feels unfair that they auto respond with instant stamina breaks.

Some ultimates are easier to pull off, vegetos spirit sword for instance can chain into regular combos, and some of the faster charging ults like super kamehameha and be used when knocking them to the ground without stamina break

I think you're seeing when the enemy does a charged hard strike attack (Y on an Xbox controller). The charged version of the first strike counters any Ultimate, windup or even during. It just looks like a normal attack, but you can do it to them as well.

It's pretty fun and one of the things I like about the game, even when it's done to me when I try to sit back and scumbag Ult Ki-blast enemies to death.

if you hold y or triangle when someone is performing an ultimate you break thier stamina. just like if someone is blocking and you hold y it will break thier stamina. I don't know if I'm behind the times, but I just learned that like 2 days ago.

One of many, many reasons my streak of Z rank Ult finishes on PQ 100 involved not giving the slightest **** about stamina breaks, or elaborate setup ults.

Just combos, and reliable supers and quick utility ults I can tag onto the knockback/knockdown portions of combos.

Shame some races have some ****ed follow up tracking for that, though. I can go hog wild with my Male Saiyan no problem. But there are assorted cases of follow up tracking fail on my attempts with Nameks, Freizas, and lady buus.

And I value consistently functional basic mechanics, more than I value optimized racial damage statistics and the like.

Shame, as I adored my Freiza in Xeno 1. But trying to play one now drives me CRAZY for how wonky their stuff feels for follow ups both teleport (oh... it put me on the ground 20 feet before where my target landed from the knockdown) and quick beams (oh... I'm aiming nowhere near a stationary target that I slammed into the ground).
