Why does fusing via fusion dance result in it's own unique outfit versus combining outfits via potara? How come SS4 Goku and Vegeta have different color hair & eyes? How is that Goku and Vegeta's clothing changes between going SS4 and reverting back to their base forms? How come SS4 Gogeta's hair is red?

In other words since when have the fusions and transformations made sense?

DB character design always has some cliches.

Fur, large brow ridges, nose/no nose, fatness, crater ears, joint colorations, etc.

Pretty much every villain has some variation of any of these in their alternate forms. Even some protagonists have these.

I take it that you are not familiar with the Xeno Timeline. Mira is a culmination of every fighter in DBZ similar to cell. He has the cells and energies of every fighter. So thus he has Saiyan DNA. Since he only has access to a Saiyans Primal power and not God Ki, When he absorbed Toki Toki's egg and Towa he gained a boost in his power allowing his body to evolve into a SS4'ish form.
