For me, I prefer bringing along 2 Supervillain Cooler because they'll occasionally use their supernovas for decent amounts of damage.
As for keeping myself and the team alive, I equip Elder Kai's "Hmm..." Super Soul.
For damage, I run 125 STR and 124 BLA with 84 in STA and 42 in KI on my male human because enemies will often go aggro on me and strikes are very effective for those situations.
For skills, I equip the following.
Supers:
Shining Slash (Great gap closer and good for finishing off low health enemies for reserving ki)
Super God Fist (Great for self peel) or Drain Charge (Good for self-peel but not as good at it as Super God Fist and great for setting up your ultimate)
Divinity Unleashed (Great for ki management), Do or Die (Good damage reduction and is almost as good as an evasive skill for only 100 ki), or Fighting Pose B/G (B for Bonus to Strikes or G for bonus to Blasts)
Maximum Charge or, if Divinity Unleashed AND Drain Charge are equipped, Super God Fist
Ultimates:
Supernova Cooler (Lands most times on any enemy including aggressive ones but you need to land Super God Fist or Drain Charge on an aggressive enemy for enough distance to avoid being broken out of it) or Gigantic Meteor (Great damage, great AoE, but long cast time and only useful when NO enemies are targeting you)
Justice Combination (The ONLY good strike ultimate in the game)
Awoken Skill:
Potential Unleashed (Easy to acquire, just get a Z Rank on all of your advancement tests and then pass the extra test)
Evasive:
Vanisher Guard (My personal favorite, lasts a long time as long as you don't enter any inputs and gives you complete immunity to all enemy skills throughout its duration. It also doubles as an automatic stop if you're knocked around too much.)
If you play a saiyan with SSB then you want to equip both Drain Charge and Divinity Unleashed while keeping Maximum Charge. Saiyans can also substitute Saiyan Spirit in for Justice Combination, but I find Justice Combination far more reliable for close-quarters damage.
If you play a male majin (a challenge and a true test of patience against bad game mechanics) then you won't have access to Shining Slash as it is human/saiyan exclusive. But you won't need it. You NEED Rise to Action instead in order to avoid taking double damage from enemies. You will also need the Super Soul, "I'm Neither Kami Nor Piccolo" to maintain your health AND give you a bonus to your crappy damage. Again, male majins just suck in this game.
If you play a female majin, frieza race, or namekian then you will have to substitute Shining Slash with a skill of your choice. Know that frieza race does not benefit that much from strikes and namekians have poor damage across the board outside their basic attacks.
I didnt use the saiyan spirit or big bang kamehameha but I followed everything else to the last detail. I mainly used Giant Storm and stayed in the back and destroyed them from afar. Rise to action helped to get my HP regenerated because of the super soul.
I highly recommend your method.
None of the new PQs are hard, they're just troublesome to do alone while trying to get Ultimate Finish.
No partners, no items, decentish speed :D

You can loop combo heavies with auta slide and then stack perfect shots at the very end for enormous damage and if you feel ballsy you can get all of your ki via melee or pblocking and have high basic damage.
Mew has my general MO. Bait the AI, break its guard and go nuts against it. They are fodder if you exploit their repetitive behavior.
This ^^ was on my three mains. And as Mews' and my stuff show... the largest attack buffs arent necessarily the means to beat this. Just getting consistent damage and minimizing waste.
Also i nuked my mentor >:U
That imbecile always hopped in and caused the AI to start double teaming
You dont need this
