What a useful thing to say.
I know how you feel. I cleared it twice, but the first time I struggled so much I seriously considered giving up on it as not worth it. It's badly designed, but it is possible to do.
Best I can offer is keep calm, focus on doing the button inputs (make it muscle memory if you can), and keep trying until it takes.
Also, walk away from it and ignore it for awhile if you have to. Take a break to clear your head. Sometimes I find I do better at a task after I've put out of mind for a few days and then re-approach it fresh. Not saying that will work for you, but it might.
To the guy who said he did it first try. If he did that, and claims to be mediocre than he sucks the big one on any build whatsoever.......Nappa IQ?
Cheers, and GL.
This is how I did it with a few of my characters. The issue for me was two things:
1) They make you use combos that aren't meta. Most of them, I never see in pvp and I never use myself. So muscle memory interferes
2) The game is making you use guard breaks at the start of the string in later ones that aren't efficient normally UNLESS you combo into it.
For #2 you CAN combo to set them up but you have to be careful that you pause long enough so that it breaks the game's registered combo chain. It's a bit difficult to explain without you seeing it.
It's - as others mentioned - a game of patience. They are doable once you understand how the game is reading what you do
Someone was missing a few brain cells when coming up with that idea.
Guess that's 3 or whatever moves and skills I'll never get unlocked.
But yeah, Zamasu is hands-down Most Annoying Mentor because of that. .... Which I suppose is sort of in character given he's so amazingly obnoxious in the show-? :P
just try hardly and if you give up just leave them they arent that usefull
Testing match was annoying as hell with Black and Zamasu ganging on you and interrupting your combos when you're attacking either one of them, but it's quite manageable otherwise at higher levels. Taking Black out seems to give you a good edge in enduring the full 3 minutes since Black is the only person who can reliably die in this mission, I doubt Zamasu can die.
First and Second lessons are really stupid. If it was simple inputting commands on a non-attacking NPC, it would still be somewhat bearable, but Zamasu actually fights back in his lessons and doesn't intend to hold back. Many of the times when I tried to get the final command input chain he'd warp out of my burst dash combos or guard against regular attacks to make them ineffective and preventing me from starting the combo in the first place. Somehow I was lucky to clear lesson 1 on second try and lesson 2 on first try, but it was seriously annoying regardless and I'm glad for my luck.
Lesson 3 can be also really frustrating if you're not prepared for it. The character I did the lesson on is a female Saiya-jin with Ki Blast build. Since Zamasu has OP regeneration in his fights, it can be really difficult to actually kill him, especially if you're a tanky character with low damage output or your damage build specializes in Ki Blasts, and the fight having 3 minute time limit doesn't help matters either. He has no problem stalling you until the timer runs out, which can be seriously depressing considering how Lessons 1 and 2 do you dirty with their command input nonsense (There's a reason why I didn't bother finishing any lessons at Dai Kaioshin in Conton City beyond the first and second lessons). Ultimately I found out that despite the fact Zamasu's ultimate is a strike ultimate, it does really huge damage if it hits perfectly even with no points in Strikes. Coupled with Broly's Super Soul, I somehow managed to One-shot Zamasu from full health with perfectly placed Instant Severance that just cleaved Zamasu and got me the achievement for completing Zamasu's mentor missions.
If there's anything good that came out of my frustration, I got 3 extra skills most of the people won't probably get and that Zamasu's missions taught me how to stamina break better, but other than that, I still think the mentor missions for Zamasu should be reworked. I recommend using Piccolo's "I am neither Kami nor Piccolo" super soul for Lessons 1 and 2, because both lessons give you auto Ki and Stamina full recovery, which is ideal to trigger autoheal from Piccolo's super soul. Doing so will save you money spent on healing items that you'd otherwise have to use in these lessons.
I found out awhile ago that I think the first combo mission is also bugged slightly. If you do the combo too close to the ground, Zamasu will literally bounce out of it and it won't connect properly. Don't know if they ever fixed this but I do remember after I figured this out, getting by it was easier.
