Good strike supers (decent damage, fast activation):
Super dragon fist
Aura slide
Final blow
Super god fist
Deadly dance
Final cannon
Super mad dance
Justice rush
These do good damage (2K-4K per activation) while being fast enough that you can do them mid-combo and thus having a low chance of being dodged. The best strike ults (imo) are Divine lasso and Instant severence. I set up my skills to 1, do decent damage, 2, be activated easily and hard to dodge, 3, stylish and matches the theme of my preset's outfit. I don't play for what's the 'best.' Though I have noticed I don't do too shabby in multiplayer. I make a setup that's fun to use.
If you love to be up close and personal and really in the middle of the action go with Strikes.
There are some pretty fun ones with lovely animations in there.
Only downside is that their pool to choose from is not as big as it is with the Ki Blasts.
I personally love to Ki Blast my way to victory.
Might be probably due to the fact that 99% of all signature moves are ki blasts.
I recently did make an earthling that uses alot of Strike skills and after having played nothing but ki blast CaC's throughout Xenoverse 1 and 2 i must say it took me some time to get used to it.
But i must say i rather enjoy switching it up from time to time.
And addressing the not leveling both up....
If you soully play PVE there is nothing wrong with leveling both Strike and Ki Blast up.
I am speaking from a players perspective that ONLY plays PVE,...
My earthling used both Ki-blast and Strike and i have 125 in Strikes and 124 in Ki-blast.
And this works fine in PVE mode for PQ's and the occasional EM.
Normally one should go one way or the other for maximum efficientcy so you can dump points in either health or basic attacks or more ki/stamina and all that.
And if you PVP you should certainly go either Strike OR Ki Blast and not both. (because of the point i made directly above)
PVP you actually should put your points in Health Stamina and Basic Attack
They're effective on a global scale, PQ's, EM's, and Story.
Strike Supers are effective in situations in which the friendly AI does not habitually knock your target out of your combo strings as it often does, especially in EM's.
Basic attacking is something you may need anyway, as it's the only fully free attack solution you have. It's also one of the most basic ways to charge your ki. If you use strike supers, you may need to set up combos with basic attacks first, as they are usually the quick and free way to start combos. You don't really need to invest points on basic attacks if you want to fully focus on another attack stat for pve. But do learn and know your basic attack strings.
Strike supers seem more tied to basic attacks than ki blasting, because things like the regular SSJ forms and some super souls give boosts to both of those stats at the same time. You can either use strikes as extensions of your basic attack strings, or if you focus on them, you will want to use basic attack only to charge ki and/or setting up for the strike super. My strike super preferences are the ones that launch and end quickly, like super god fist or critical upper. They feel more efficient and leave you vulnerable for the least amount of time.
Ki blast supers are pretty much the mobile artillery of the game. Most ultimate skills are indeed ki blast supers. Some better than others. For pve, you can use a setup that relies on either AI allies or online players, so you can hang back and go "gun turret" on enemies. Sure, you can also go for a mix of basic attacks to end up in a ki blast, which is also pretty awesome.
So as I said before, you can either focus on one type of attack, or mix and match to form a play style that's exciting for you.
