do masters give benefits if you choose one to be your main?
simple question. i just cant seem to find a reason to choose a specific master to be my MAIN master. it seems i can choose to learn things from ANYONE i please. but is there really a thing as to who my main master is? or is it just like hey i like frieza so hes my main master and nothing happens. no boost to stats or special moves or anything? and if there is are there best masters for a main? like im a melee only kind of fighter.. who should i pick? im starting to think its just meh and just a weir d way to make yo do things to learn more specials

They appear in fights and help you. (I dunno about PQ, but my master randomly helps in story mode fights)

None

Your instructors tend to show up in battle when you in trouble like low Health etc.

like i thought its just a weird way to throw characters around.. i could go the whole game without ever having a master.. like what kind of crap is that lol

cuz honestly.. seriously... has anyone EVER really needed the help of some opther character to jump in? whats the use of it? theres gotta be a reason other than choosing the most OP character u can find and force yourself to die just to get him in there lol.. i figure ill just go without ever having a master.

Setting a character as yourt master allows you to raise their relationship meter, however the benefits of that are pointless as all you get out of it are titles.

In the first game you had to reach a certain affection rating with your mentor to unlock the next training mission, they likely scrapped that for Xenoverse 2 but cut content isn't always clean and very clear implications can be left behind, such as the warning dialogue you get when choosing a new mentor.

None beside, that they help quite often if low on health, but they have some interesting secret dialogue in PQ's. Like if you make Beerus meet with Goku GT, or Towa.
They can show up in PQs if you are on low health and they give Marks and Titles for increasing their friendship meter. I haven't really seen anyone with marks though. Its not hard to max out the meter.

Yea... simply bring instructors from character selection in PQ from start that sure will fill it up faster.
Using their attacks and bringing them into PQ's can fill their meter. I don't know about playing as them but maybe. It took me I think 15 or maybe less PQ's of using Cells moves and bringing in 2 cell's to max his friendship.
