You played on PC and PS4, but how long did you played.
I know a lot of people who start to play Street fighter, KOF, GuiltyGear, or Mortal Kombat only by smashing buttons.
You will only do basic and easy breakable combos. you can win against AI like this, but you will never win against any good player.
You will not be able to do something like this for example

Complexity does not always equal fun, and I'd rather not play a Controller Masturbator™ like Guilty Gear.
Sure, there were some free fan-made games like Lemmingball Z and the elusive Earths Special Forces mod made for PC. But those pale in comparison to this to be honest.
Xenoverse is the ONLY game I drop $60 for. It's not perfect but its still very good. I don't mind the RPG elements too much. They aren't deep, but thats fine with me.
Bear in mind, I'm playing this for casual fun and having a blast meeting and fighting Dragon Ball characters, not to compete in PVP.
Is this game a bit simple? Perhaps. But again, to each their own. I can fully understand if someone deems this game primitive compared to pure fighting games.
it's not any argument lol, many combos are doable to a newbie, while in MK or SF only punch kick combos are basically unlimited
game can be fun, yes, but fighting lacks depth
I stand corrected, sorry its been a while. 50 or 60, wouldn't matter too much.
Wrong. Have you seen the new Street Fighter? EVERYONE can perform ANY combo now, there are videos of Pros in SFV complaining or criticizing the game for this very thing. And Punk (a new Pro starting from SFV) admitted that the game is incredibly easy for newcomers. This game is not the only one, and that video the 2nd reply had is showing you a few "flashy" combos that take a little more effort than just button mashing.
If you want a technical game go play Mortal Kombat, or go play Guilty Gear if you want to commit suicide from how hard it is, I don't play THIS game, I have 0 hours in it, my brother plays it and I watch a lot of videos, it is fun and that's what matters. Fun > anything else no matter how you slice it. At the end of the day the serious players that want to play a truly competitive fighting game, play multiple fighting games and enjoy whichever they feel like either competitively or casually... This game is fine the way it is, I play For Honor, SFV, occasionally SFIV, Blazblue Chronophantasma and soon Central Fiction online and just started KOFIV one day when I make time for this game I hope it's still alive because it's always been amazing for TRUE dbz fans to watch at least, I only listed my fighting game background to say that sure this game isn't as technical but it's about the quality of the game for the franchise, you say raging blast was better but most people do not agree.
"Extremely well character creation."
If it didn't have character creation this series wouldn't be nearly as popular as what is currently is.
Everyone wanted to make their own Saiyan, Namkian, Frost Race etc.
Just like how Naruto to Boruto Striker game will take off, the graphics are below average compared to other games in this generation - but it has character creation. Everyone wants to make their own Uchiha, Hyuga etc
OC's are popular in every fandom, but in DBZ and Naruto - well you know. It goes far and beyond.
This isn't a game you come to for "technical" fighting.
You play this game to fight monsters, aliens and demons in 3D space using meter-based specials taken from all the main heroes and antagonists Dragon Ball has to offer, with your own customizable avatar at the center of it all.
Also Female Majins. THEY are the reason people play this game, because they are adorable.
