How to use heal items in a fight?

hello, i have a very simple question^^ how do i use heal items in a fight? the tutorial says tab, but that does not work. I have some heal items but how can i take them in a middle of a fight?

Make sure you've set them as your battle items, from outside of a mission. Make sure you're not attempting to use them inside of an Expert/Raid Mission.
