DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2
At My Wits End, Nothing Else I Can Do.
After two days of trying and trying I am ready to just go ahead and get a refund. No matter what I try, the game will not launch for me. It only ever tries to, and then gives me this error:
"the application was unable to start correctly (0xc00007b)..."
I have scoured the internet and tried every available solution I can short of completely reinstalling Windows (which, given that I no longer have the install disc with which to do so, is really not an option I can consider.) Among the things I have tried are:

- Compared my specs to the minimum requirements of the game (I pass).
- Update Windows.
- Update my drivers (graphics and sound).
- Uninstall and reinstalling the most recent versions of DirectX 11, Microsoft Visual C++, .Net Framework that are compatible with Windows 7.
- Install this AIO pack I found on the internet (that ultimately ended up not doing much of anything).
- Running the game and Steam as an administrator.
- Re-configuring my AVG to allow Steam and every game I have installed to be recognized as exceptions.
- Clean installing Xenoverse 2. Twice.

I am at a complete and total loss. I've had problems like this recently with other games I have installed (GTAV, Skyrim SE), but both times was able to work out fairly simple solutions-- none of which have worked in this case.
Should I just get a refund? Can anybody give me any shred of advice on how to remedy this problem and come to a legitimate solution? I really enjoyed playing this game on the Playstation 4, and wanted to get a copy for PC so that me and my girlfriend could play together like we played through Xenoverse 1. Needless to say I am very frustrated at this point.

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated. You would be my new messiah.

First off delete AVG all together and just use the windows defender, AVG is horrific and does nothing but take up memory and syphon data, I would try uninstalling AVG first. The only other thing I could think of is a compatability error with windows 7. This game is already quite
shakey in terms of stability, in short its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ port from the console version. Try playing it as admin(just launch steam as admin windows 7-8 are really fickle about admin privalges), long shot but its all I could come up with after all you did. (also try launching the game from the actual game folder in programs.)

It could also be your processor or GPU, this game seems to react poorly to AMD. My PC is 4 times what this game would need and yet it crashes on me at least twice a day. Unfortunatly nothing much we can do about it.

PS: also try unchecking the steam cloud sync for this game( right click game in steam hit properties then look for a small box with a check mark saying cloud sync)

PSS: do NOT renstall windows, nothing causing this would be fixed with a reinstall, all that would do is force you to take all day on something that would result in the same outcome.
Good luck man. Feel free to add me if you get it working.

Thank you for your quick and friendly reply. I will certainly try the solutions you have suggested, as I am really quite desperate lol.
I have tried running it from the game folder several times to no avail, and running it and steam as an administrator both. Let me ditch AVG though (it has been a considerable pain in mein ass) and take the other steps you've listed and I'll let you know how it works out.
Thank you.
Few things you could try which might help.

1:) try uninstalling the game and reinstalling to a different location, it might also be worth using "revo uninstaller"
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
This will uninstall the game and all files and registry files left behind, to ensure you get a clear start.

2:) If the game still crashes, try running process explorer when opening the game:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processexplorer.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

This program monitors all access to files and registy keys, Filter on the process name you want, this will show you what files are beening accessed and if the game is crashing when loading a particular file.

3) try reinstalling dot .net frame work, I belive 4.5 is the latest and restart the Pc once done.

4) try removing Avg / switching off AVG, it maybe this AV program is locking files needed by the game, you can always reinstall this later if it does not help fix the issue.

Hope all this helps, let me know how you get on.
I uninstalled AVG and Xenoverse 2 (using the revo uninstaller you suggested, at that) and am currently working on re-installing Xenoverse 2. I checked and I currently do have the latest version of .net framework (which i reinstalled previously trying to solve this problem, so no big surprise there). Just crossing my fingers and hoping that something here clicks and I can resolve this mess.

You suggested installing Xenoverse 2 to a different location-- how do I go about doing that? Installing the game via Steam seems to automatically install it to the default location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common...). If there's a special step I should take, I'd be very grateful to know.
Again, I thank both of you for your input.
One other thing you could try is clearing the download cashe in steam. Steam>settings>downloads>clear download cash.

I am not 100% on how to install it outside the steam folder but I think you go to downloads in settings and its up at the top. Just change the installiation destiation for that one game then change it back after. "content librarys".
After reinstalling the game, clearing the download cache in steam, and unchecking the cloud synce option for the game, I continue to get the same error. I really don't know what to do at this point it seems futile lol.
I ran process explorer as directed when I tried to launch the game and it failed-- I'm not sure how to read proccess explorer, really, but a couple of red entries did pop up when I tried to run it: "dllhost.exe" and "consent.exe" both appeared in red under something called "svchost.exe" when the game tried to run, but quickly stopped when it would not. But again, I have no idea what any of that means lol.
I'm beginning to think that my best course of action is to pursue a refund, and stick to my console for gaming, by and large. Thanks for the support.

Ok well those are windows files. I would not be surprised if you have more errors in other areas if your getting those types of pop ups. You might actually want to reinstall windows, it sounds like a core problem, you are missing some key windows files. You might have some type of virus or malware a lot of times those infections will randomly delete important windows files. I would suggest downloading "superwantispyware free" or any free anti malware, there are quite a few also do a virus scan through defender. That would be my last resort before reinstalling windows competely. If you do not have your CD you can always torrent a copy and use the serial code on your tower/laptop to activate it, just make sure it the right version(home or pro).

I ran scans with malware bytes (and AVG, prior to deleting it) after I got my laptop back from software center, just to make sure everything was working correctly, and they didn't find anything out of the ordinary. That wasn't very long ago, but given my history of ♥♥♥♥ luck with this sort of thing, it's probably not a bad idea to run some scans again just to be vigilant.
Regardless though, this puts a pretty definitive nail in the coffin in this whole endeavor as far as I'm concerned lol. Thanks.
for one... post your specs man. the fact you say laptop gives me an idea that might help you, but I don't know your specs.

Have you seen this page for your error code:
http://www.wiki-errors.com/wiki-errors.php?wiki=0xc00007b
As Chaotic say it maybe linked to windows system files.

You could trying running a SFC /Scan now before having to reinstall windows which is always a pain.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files

This some times works but to be honest more often than not finds nothing wrong, but hey worth a shot before reinstalling.

To reinstall steam games to a new location see:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7710-tdlc-0426

Hope this helps
The wiki-errors link isn't working for me, but yes a problem with windows does seem likely to be the culprit at this point. I'll also run that system-repair you suggested, as it can do no more harm than good lol. Thank you.
Yeah, unfortunately it looks like you're gong to have to do a fresh Windows install. It would take more time and effort to try and fix these problems individually than to just reinstall windows, especially if you don't have a ton of files on your hard drive. Even if you do, you can always transfer them to a flash drive or external HD. If you had your windows, CD you could possibly use the repair function which would reinstall all the critical files, that might fix it, but again you would need the CD or raw file.

Sorry about that bud, hope to see you in game soon!

Idk if this helps but if the error is related to Direct X or those other microsoft applications many games include the proper updates in the game dir:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DB Xenoverse 2\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DB Xenoverse 2\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015\DB Xenoverse 2\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015\vc_redist.x64

And like previously stated your system specs would be helpful.
I hope the 2+ hrs means you got it working???
