Normal Map Issues
Hi guys,

I've been having issuse with baking Normal maps since upgrading to SP2.

When I bake the textures from my high poly mesh, I can see the ambient occlussion has been applied directicly to my low poly mesh in the view port, but no normal data.

In the thumbnail of the Normal Map I can see that it's there, but it's not showing on my mesh in the viewport and if I export the textures to a folder the normal map has no data on it.

My low poly mesh is UV unwrapped and the low and high poly mesh are perfectly aligned.

I baked the normals in Substance Designer and they come out perfectly.

Never had this problem in Substance Painter 1 and I'm probably missing something really simple.

Help would be much appreciated.

Is the normal map placed in the Texture Set list?

Can you apply the normal map as a base color and confirm it's ok?

Do you have the Normal channel active in your project? If not, add it. If you manually put the texture into the normal channel of a material, will it show up?

Was this problem ever resolved for you, strangledCAT?

I just upgraded to SP2 and I'm having the exact same issue. The normal map is in the correct place but no normal map features are showing up. I've got other textures that I baked that are showing up just fine - the AO map for example is working as expected.

Anyone know of a way to resolve this?

Found the issue that I was having.

They added a new setting for the 'baked textures', right above the texture list. It's called 'Normal Mixing'.

By default, it's set to 'Replace'. That doesn't sound like it would be a problem, but it doesn't work at all for me. So I changed it to 'Combine' and my normal map now looks great.
