We'll need a bit more information.

What operating system are you on? (Windows version or Linux distro name and ver)

What hardware is your computer running? (CPU, GPU, RAM)

Do you have your graphics drivers installed and ready to go for your card? Do you meet the minimum hardware requirements to run Substance Painter 2?

I initially could not open Substance Painter 2 at first right after purchase. It kept going to a crash reporter immediately.

What I did was update my OS (Ubuntu), shutdown Steam and restart my computer. Logging back into Steam afterwards, I was able to open Substance Painter 2 without issue. That is something you can try in the mean time.

Thank your for your response.

I have a high end MSI GT72s 60e Dominator pro G Laptop. So I guess I match the minimum. https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GT72S-6QE-Dominator-Pro-G.html#hero-overview.

and have used substance painter in the past on this machine. it does open but i cant click anything. i just can move the welcome screen. i have all the lasted drivers installed.

If you've downloaded from the Steam, do double check the integrity files. See if any files are missing. Since yours doesn't compute with an error log, but just hangs on the startup dialog. It's either the software is still trying to ping over to the server to get the key registered, if not is setting up the needed Allegorithmic folders in your computer for first startup.

Steam somehow doesn't work well for the Substance Painter, there's related similar threads as yours. Others have tried the roundabout method by downloading from the Allegorithmic site, and applied a standalone key.

Could you do a clean installation of the graphics driver Nvidia Geforce GTX 980M? I noticed you have installed v355.98 (Win10), and was v337.88 (Win8) previously. The latest driver is v372.70. Do a clean installation instead, to avoid multiple driver entries.
