Beginner Question - Resetting the brush/tool
So, I feel like an idiot but I can't seem to find a way to reset my brush.

I add a new layer to my TextureSet, I want to paint some height map information to this layer but my Default Brush still has a previous stencil attached (it's disabled though) and a metal material I don't want to paint!

It's the metal material that's the headache. I just want to paint in height (basically greyscale) How do I remove the material from the tool?

Thanks.

Then you can click back on it whenever you stray into other tools.

Hope this helps everyone.

Just to expand on my question - restarting Substance Painter resets the paint tool back to what I want. How do I get back to this normally?

Not the greatest answer, you would think the newest version had a fix for this.

Hi, if you use the paint brush tool, then select a brush that has 'height', like the crack brush, and then return to your paint tool brush without any height, so a flat colour, you'll notice that it retains the previous raised brush you used. Go to your paint properties tab, scroll down until you see 'material mode'. If there's something in the material mode of your 'properties - paint' tab, press x in the top right corner of material mode to get rid of it. If that doesn't work, underneath 'Material Mode' is a section called 'Height'. In the height tab there's a slider bar which ranges from -1 to +1. Click the number and type in 0. This will remove height from your brush.
