Empty file error

I'm trying to import an OBJ, from Maya, into a new project. But whenever I select the OBJ, select the resolution and all that, and click OK, I get an error saying that it failed to load the 3D scene, because the file (OBJ) is empty. Now I know that the OBJ isn't empty, cause I have opened it in Maya, which revealed the full 3D model, although without it's assigned materials.

Does anyone know what could be going on here?

Try FBX, Maya's OBJ handling is a bit rubbish.
