This is a puzzle that many people seem to have trouble with, perhaps the clue needed to be clearer that an extra step is involved.
Not really worth your time to go super hard on this but if I were designing a similar puzzle I might have some kind of unique starting or untouched state for each tile, so it's a little more clear, or, have tiles "lock" in place once you change to another tile. Both of these strategies would make the ordering seem more natural. But a quick fix might be just having the puzzle state reset if it's wrong.
The puzzle mechanics are unlikely to be changed at this stage in the game's life (though I may update the wording of the clue to make it a little more clear). However the lessons learned and player feedback from this puzzle will certainly be taken into account in any future games.
- Er, no , that isn't working here in one game (I had to restart a new game to get past this point). There definitely seems to be a state that can be fallen into where it proves impossible to trigger the opening of the secret passage.
