Yep 150 players ...
They pushed it to EA way too soon and then the dev went too slowly to retain players sadly

Love the idea of this game but not the execution ...

KOS idiots ruined this game. You spend time and learn to build then you venture out in thr ship that just took you 3 days to build, and a kos idiot is almost always waiting for someone to make the mistake of playing this game, and they are wiped ,, do they want to rebuild? hell no. do they want to build a space station for others to blow up? nope. wasted time , The very vocal minority ( around 150 people, go check steamcharts) drove off the thousands that wanted to play. The devs were emboldened bu this 150, and they have killed the game , no more development, i hope they learned that catering to the loud minority screws you in the end. Lesson Learned?

Anyone who complaining about "state of game" or PvP players is just bad. Stay in safe zone or make friend with experienced body guard type player. PM me ingame if you need help staying the hell alive. Don't blame devs for your lack of skill

you assume too much. I am speaking of all the people who left that i know/played with, this is the consensus. i have around 500 hours , and i have a station and i go in and mine and explore on occasion spend some time programming my flight computer, (i do stink at that) But it is boring as hell not seeing anyone else almost ever, i used to see people constant. Its depressing how the push for pvp has pushed so many people away. So yes. im angry its been ruined by a community of 150 people or so who insist on a focus on survival of the fittest always everywhere. When most humans have evolved past survival of the fittest they are in survival of the species mode. There is no need for people to hunt and stop every person they can from playing , that is not pvp that is bully, hiding behind the term pvp. We are allowed to be mad at them.

((Or you, because you are so motivated to jump on anyone with an opinion that is different than yours. (you seem to do this a lot) you must be involved somehow. If you get triggered by this opinion it might be that you are one of the 150, and for that i feel sorry for you. ))

Those 1D10ts have driven away the people interested in all the other areas offered in this game and now that survival of the fittest bullies are all that are left. this means i cant convince anyone to try again because they do not wish to throw the time of work on ships because this small community wants to make sure no one can leave the save zone, ever because they are bored from having no one to shoot, So this attitude and type of player have effectively Locked the game down now beyond any hope for an community expansion , since its gotten so focused on pvp. ffs

This is correct, this is what happens when you go full on PVP without anything to balance it. You drive new players away who don't want to deal with it and you're left with nothing.

I mean why bother working on a ship for days only to have it blown up with no repercussions? Where's the incentive to keep playing?

Fewer crashes and a more stable game is always welcome news. Thank you.

It was fun from day 1 in the same way Factorio is fun. Gather resources to build things, and build things to gather resources. You build up your personal infrastructure until you hit the voxel limit for your resource collection ship design. Then by the power of money you buy whatever you don't want to research or can grind all remaining research. From there it's simple self-made goals in a sandbox.

If you don't like making your own goals, you would never have found Starbase enjoyable, regardless of player count.

This. This right here. Many people seem to misunderstand sandbox games in that they expect challenges to be presented to them, were as many challenges can be set by yourself and accomplished by yourself.

Don't know if many people remember but Minecraft had so little to do in the early days yet when I played the beta, the 1.0, the pre-horse era, etc, I had so much fun as a kid. I built castles and towns without anyone in them, I explored dozens of biomes and set up railway systems for no commuters. These challenges weren't intrinsic of the game, but I made them goals and I accomplished them. I made the game as I played it with the blocks I was given. And I had fun.

For better or worse, Starbase hands you the tools to complete similar feats. The YOLOL code and autonomous robotics can be industrialised just as redstone was. The scarcity of resources opens up trade with other players from different biomes/regions. The PvP aspect creates career paths of security/military forces or being a pirate/tyrant should you choose so. Any resource gained is useful (and not rubbish) for some gadgetry or tech that is ultimately required to build an optimal ship. I've seen genius people invent wacky concepts in the ship building editor, such as orbital infantry drop pods, craft carriers, self destruct mechanisms, autonomous mining setups, etc.

There is so much potential within the game, given you critically think about possible goals and the means to accomplish them.
