Till this is a bit easier, I think the majority of working ships will be square or blocky by nature.
We will see, maybe they can make a free form beam system like the pipes, smaller segments but still weldable even though they are not perfectly aligned.
The other way would be by adding a scale x y z factor to any part, adjusting the volume for materials as well, but allowing for perfect snapping and any sized plates etc. I think
Avorion,

if a path based render is used for the parts, it would cut down on the amount of entities in a ship, and you would only need to break it up on damage, which could be predefined segments like the size of a ore chunk. Would allow for more organic ships to be made with out doing a ton of math or millions of bolts and duct tape to get it to work.
I am not knocking starbase or those others games, just comparing technologies in ship building.
Honestly starbase imo is one of the most potential mmo's to come out, where players can make content and systems that do not exist, you literally can add your own game mechanics. Sure it is technical and figity right now, but as players get the hang of it, more and more public based systems will evolve, like gps and nav systems all player made.
So it will look like this (in game looks like an x wing beam intersection)
_/\__/\_
Instead of
__ __
just like the mounts, turntables, and so on, it does help to try other parts to find out what fits best. I just didn't think about that in beams.
I think they need to review their beam and plate model
you are right i think that really better with starship build system +11111111111
and managed the angles by overlapping plates at worst.
3 days that I am blocked because I have a few centimeters impossible to fill
I think this is the worst construction game I have ever played
The solution provided here and in other threads. All beams match.
I provided the solution already..and it's been a few days i see it in other threads too. People are figuring it out.
Sure it can be better and on their official forums they have new welding method coming soon.
Steam is where I bought the game, and I do not see any other links beside wiki and discord.
Already refuse to use discord, I am not a fan of it or 3rd party communities that have different information then the main (official forums) which I consider to be the steam forums, where I purchased the game, specifically for the social and technical integration that steam offers.
I feel neglected as a steam user by companies that do this, it feels like your trying to take advantage of the steams popularity and public view, but your not supporting the core features of why it is so popular in the first place. I love the innovation of the game, but things like this, and lack of answering questions, general silence of information, and the use of 3rd party tools where there is already an existing infrastructure, are huge red flags to me, and are not worth my time investment.
I am not even saying not use discord, for those that like it, it is fine, but to have to rely on it or other 3rd party apps to get support or learn how to play the game, it is not okay.
Steam is a publishing platform. It offers its social/technical integations by default, but these are only needed for games, that do not have some of their own. What you consider what is beside the point.
This part is outright stupid. Companies "that do this" have their own sites/platforms years before they publish their games on Steam. They don't owe Steam anything for what they didn't needed to begin with. Discord is one of the best current social platforms for games or otherwise.
If you cannot get support or advise because you're looking in a wrong place, that's your personal problem. Nobody is obligated to adjust to your taste in social tools, and frankly, most people who have a long-term experience in Discord see it as far superior social platform than any forum, while Steam Discussions have been regarded by many as "just the place where people whine into the void".
