getting a "no space to leave seat" message when i try and exit my pilot seat
cant leave pilot seat in my ship design "test mode". even when i detach it completely from ship, i get this message.
what is the jinky fix for this wonky crap so i can continue this 100 hour build and have it fail on the planet approach?...:steamhappy:

This sounds like a new bug to me, but maybe try and place a new pilot seat.
If that fails, you can copy the ship to a new blueprint with the module system (select all, make a module, save the module, new blueprint, place module).
If that fails, either someone here has a different idea or you could ask over on the official discord.

Though I think to remember an issue:
Are you in a designer on the moon/in gravity?
That will cause issues.

Only the moon ssc, moonbase hanger, or a capital ship parked in a bad spot, has this bug.
Question is, why doesn't you ship just start drifting sideways all on it's own?

Moon ssc has serious issues, the "no room to leave your seat" bug, the "I leaving without you - bye" bug, and best of all is the invisible walls your ship rams into.

Fix, don't use any ssc on the moon or move your capital ship.

The only other time this issue raises it's head is with tiny ships like the firefly, in the firefly cockpit there is a small button bottom left of the dashboard that needs moving by 0.0001m.

The only other issues I can think of is if the ssc messed up your seat and stand and the stand pokes through the seat, in which case delete them and replace with new ones.
Or you have cables running through the seat in a way which blocks you.

Try a new pilot seat first like askannon suggests.

i am working in the moon builder for the first time. was hoping to test moonworthy ship in a gravity situation, but there seems to be no grav in the test mode here. i guess its back to space for me...
thanks guys

Moonworthy ships:
can move slowly, so as to not leave the hover

can deal with uneven terrain

If you just want a ship that can leave the gravity:
pretty much any amount of thrust can negate the effect of gravity, though fuel and propellant might be a consideration (especially if ship is very slow)

Moon ssc is good for repairs.

Moon mining for rare ores? The rare ones are in craters, ask on discord for someone to show you them in a little ship if you have never seen or been to one.

Is the test server still going? Someone tell them about the test server...

I'm pretty sure the PTU is still accessible, so indeed:
You can switch to the beta/Public Test Universe (PTU) for a creative mode experience with most ores accessible through a DEV menu.

And there's a crater that should be visible from the gate in the direction of Moon Merchant Haven (a frozenbyte station on the moon, with the respective dark blue transponder name). And craters are quite distinct (very bowl shaped, very large).

thanks guys. i hadn't thought to slow my speed when entering atmosphere, or to test out builds in the PTU (though i think i dont have access to my RG builds in the PTU).
Thought i had it worked out, but jammed toward city and crashed. couldnt get ship to pull out of drop. working on new build with larger thrusters... hoping this will fly down there.

You can import blueprints through the autosave menu
Garth Zader Apr 18, 2023 @ 8:26pm
The downwards velocity is independent of forward velocity, there is no atmosphere like in KSP, so you have to point it more upwards, especially for bigger heavier ships (sometimes vertically). Go get another free labourer and practice.

Also you can just slam into the city if you want, collisions are disabled inside the safezone.
It's not far between safe zones, about 10 seconds at max speed.

Isn't PTU free money/build cost as well as ores?

You have 500M credits and get reset to that value
So in effect free money
