Autocollect not autocollecting

Sooooooooo, I came back after a long time away, and decided to do some mining. Although the astroids just sort of fall apart when I hit them, I barely get anything from mining them, and half the astroid stays intact, I hit F to try and collect the chunks of rock and ore, that doesn't work. So I turned off autocollect, nothing, turned it back on again, nothing. I'm still getting resources of course, but very few. And I can't ask the in game chat for help because at the time of posting this there are 3 people online.

In game chat only has a limited range, so you may not have talked to anyone, even if there were 5 million people online as even the highest range setting has a range of around 5 km (for future reference)

As for mining, are you left clicking or right clicking? Left clicking fractures (hit with the pointy bit of the pickaxe), but does not break the material into small chunks as you would when you right click (hit with the flat of the pickaxe).
