Starbase

Starbase

are they actually just abandoning this game?
they released to early access, with no real vision or gameplay besides "industry" in mind, and wonder why no one liked it? there was nothing in the game besides mining and shipbuilding, that's it, and they wonder why no one bought it? so what, they are just dropping work on the game because they failed to design a game at all? if that's the case is there some way to get my money back?

well not really. theres steam's refund policy for how much time you did. they are also not dropping the game in its entirety as they have developers on fixing bugs and adding content while they also split off a little bit for other projects. (plus if they did drop it and abandon it they would have announced the server's shutdown date and just stopped working on this next update)

Starbase failed, it was released to EA with little gameplay and even less design. they charged $40 for a product they didn't even have properly planned out. i guess it's partially my fault for buying starbase, i only listened to people saying it was a really good game only to realize it's just mining and ship design. now they "slow down development" because they are broke and can't afford to continue working on their game. not like it makes a difference since they were developing it so slowly, literally takes weeks for even the most minor of changes to be made. maybe it's because it's built on a custom in-house engine and barely planned out the game before releasing to EA? right now starbase is a total failure unless you like mining space rocks. you would be better off playing eve online as an industry guy. god, i hope im proven wrong because this would basically be space engineers with good ship design and actual content, and that sounds amazing. right now though it's just a failure, a failure i sadly invested in. i hope they use the people's money to at least make a successful project that can bankroll starbase.

well i wont be leaving (also i looked at eves industry, its a sort of joke of what i usually play. its comparable to DU's). even if abandoned or not ill enjoy what time ill make with this. as for the slowness. ive seen worse alot worse. ever waited 2 years for a update by 14 people (scrap mechanic) or 80 devs being silent for 14 months just to say "oh we finally made a date for 1.0 to get out of early access (hardspace shipbreaker) as for why ill stay when if its abandoned properly, well i usually try to find abandonware with good code or assets that i could look at and mod for funzees. (and maybe fix some bugs they have left) Edit: i also dont play space games, i only came here for the industry content they showed before. so no space games will ever really do it at all. all of them are boring as hell and i only got 3 good industry games that ever showed. and now im making my own in a art genre that lacks games. it wont be on steam because of their large 30% cut along with the other taxes here that make it a total 80% cut of what they get.

im not the biggest fan of industry games soley, but when i play games like tarkov with a player market and crafting i usually go for making good passive income. i hope this game succeeds, but i dont think it will. is there somewhere i can watch for when your game comes out?

eh dont expect it soon. game development can have all sorts of 180's like what the devs experienced here. not everyone is lucky some are cursed out of nowhere and have to suffer with it. i may as well share their curse, but i am willing to power through it

If you bought the game during the sale before they announced they where pausing development, put in a ticket a few times. Steam will refund a game out of the refund period in some cases with enough pushback

Yes, they are, no matter what anyone here says, theire just infantile and dont grasp the reality, game is dead, no major updates since EA "release" and now they say their moving devs out of it... Of course its canceled.

are we sure this wasn't some sort of scam? they "spent" 5 years working on a nonfunctional poorly designed game and then abandon development less than a year after release, all the while putting out next to no updates besides the usual "it took us 3 weeks to change the description text on a terminal" and promising big updates then strangely canceling before anywhere released?

It's not a scam I just think they bit off more than they could chew and the game was too ambitious for them

Please share that secret with us! How "people talking" wrecked this game, not:
- lying about securing future development of this game
- no ability to hold existing player population in PLAYER BUILT UNIVERSE GAME due to lack of updates
- game being complete grindfest, see how many ppl complain about even tutorial being two hours long
- dont forget to mention this is their second abandonware in Steam Early Access. They were working on game called "Boreal Blade" and moved developers to another title, ironically, Starbase xd
Wish i knew sooner...
