Me!
Go away, I no like people.
and what if i do not use one?
I bet you most wont.
Dark Matter is infinite. Space is expanding. subtle difference. the main difference; when Space's expansion hits the limit of its elasticity, it will snap back to center, Form a big bang and back to square one again, Expanding space. Space operates in a cyclical pattern. Dark matter is the canvas in which the fabric of space time paints itself onto. Dark matter is why our space is black.
Are there other colors of space? Yes in theory.
Now if you want to get into whats beyond Dark matter, then we can talk about subspace and tacheon particles. Which can operate on multiple plains of existence and ignore Our perceived sense of time.
If you find this topic interesting, please leave a dime in the box :)
I also assume that safe zone space will be limited (as in huge base might not fit) so large monstruosity might end up being built in the much larger non safe zone.
To give you the complete picture from someone with 2k+ hrs in Closed Alpha.
Space is big. Like, very big.
It's very hard to find other people unless they have a transponder and are silly enough to leave it on. That's a 100km beacon right there.
The render distance is 5km for stuff like Asteroids & Ships.
Distance to edge of the belt from where you spawn, straight line, is 1000+ km.
You can make your own conclusions from that information.
Personally, I wouldn't go in and expect to be doing non-stop organic pvp.
We're supposed to get some type of devices to help scanning people down at some point, radiation tech. But last CA patch didn't have this, and it's extremely unlikely that it's in the first EA patch as a 'surprise!'
If, however, you do find out where people have a little mining outpost station, and you want to pirate them or blow them up, yeah, totally possible. But it's not easy to go out and find random players.
i might buy this game and look for mechs on the workshop to mess around with.
The area you will spawn in has 30 something Origin stations, and a big safezone around them, where you're safe to mine basic materials. Player stations are in the game right now. You can set them up in both the natural safe zone, and outside.
The player stations have their own (way smaller) safezones.
In time, 2 months from now, we will receive Station Siege, where you can attack other people/factions stations outside the natural safezone, if you have a big enough military capital to attack it and bring down the station safezone.
Thanks for the in depth info m8
So what materials you can obtain depends (last CA build) more or less on how far away from the spawn you go (How deep into the belt you go) - Rare ore hides in there, and are not found in the safezone. So there's some exploration in that.
It's possible to find a very big asteroid, which is called a Class 10. If that contains Xhalium (rare ore) - then boom you've got money.
Plus, there's hotspots of ore, supposedly.
So there's exploration in that sense. As well as finding wrecks of battles past, abandoned ships, player stations etc. But other than player activity, you're not going to find anything except for asteroids.
Edit: Oh, and you can visit all the moons if you want. But there's not much there yet.
