only started playing this game a few days ago, so not really sure yet.
same, just started today, and i got a couple of legendaries out of the free packs, i dunno if i should keep em, or dust em
Most popular card games have websites with decks that you can build. I personally use https://shadowverse.gamepress.gg/all-decks. I will give you some examples. This website will present you with Deck Archetypes.
One of these Archetypes is called Aegis Havencraft which means it revolves around building a deck that uses the Legendary follower card, Heavenly Aegis, as the final blow if your opponent isn't already dead.
Another Archetype is called Seraph Havencraft, which uses the Legendary amulet card, Enstatued Seraph, as your game winning move.
The focus of each Archetype varies and some aren't even Legendaries at all, like Elena Havencraft, which is a Gold amulet card that stays on the board forever once you play it, unless your opponent has a card to remove it.
All of the Archetypes revolve around a certain card that is the main focus and all other cards assist and support that card or keep you alive until you win. As you look through all the Archetypes in each class, you will recognize this pattern. If you notice a Legendary that none of the decks use, you should liquify it because it's probably not viable in any competitive build.
Before you start building a deck, play all the classes against AI with the generic prebuilt decks and get a general feel for each class. Then pick a class and a deck. It's kind of risky because there's no going back once you liquify, but if you want to constantly win and get to the highest ranks without paying money, you don't have a choice.
Forest - Rose Queen, Fairy Princess (the Standard set one, not the new one), Fairy Dragon, Deepwood Anomaly
Sword - Aurelia, Tsubaki Otohime, Alexander
Rune - Merlin (not even dshift runs her anymore), Erasmus, Mythril Golem, Pascale
Dragon - Zirnitra (again, the Standard set one not the new one), Fafnir, Dragonsong Flute, Python
Shadow - Pluto, Lord of the Flies, Mail of Obliteration
Blood - Beast Dom, Queen Vampire, Soul Dealer
Haven - Jeanne (once again, only the Standard set one), Skullfane, Eidolon of Madness, Lion of the Golden City
Neutral - Gabriel
Maybe someone will disagree, but none of the cards I listed see play anymore in any format. Many were never played, while some have just been powercreeped so hard there's no reason to keep them (ie Tsubaki and Queen Vampire). There are some others than are probably safe (Jabberwock, Wyrm God, etc.) but could have some value as better cards rotate out or new cards combo with them.
animated legendaries? vial or nah?
For rotation reanimate shadow I'd focus on ToG and CG packs. You can also use the one-time 600 crystal purchase to get a Set 2 Shadow prebuilt, which has almost everything you'd want to get started with rotation Shadow.
I vialed all my animated ones. I don't care about that and it's a lot of vials.
