Is this game any good?
Let's say I like the art but don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about it beyond that. Is the game good? I'm a MTG player (monoblack generally), also love Force of Will. Don't like Yu-Gi-Oh, HATED Hearthstone. Think I'll like this game?

We can only guess. You'll have to try the game yourself and see.

Edit: Personally, I love this game more than all the other card games out at the moment.

Shadowcraft is kind of like a mono-black deck. It uses a pseudo graveyard called 'shadows' that fills up as your creatures and creature tokens die to gain additional effects on cards with Necromancy.
There's also Bloodcraft which plays sort of like Suicide Black or Rakdos, where once you hit half life you gain bonus effects on your cards. Which is a lot of fun to play.
Definitely much more interesting than Hearthstone mechanically.

I would say yes. It is in fact made by veterans of MTG including Jun'ya Iyanaga who won the World Championship 2011. Unlike Hearthstone it was made to have minimal RNG. The evolve mechanic which is unique to this game is quite good as well.

They are also very generous towards new players, they give you 42 free card packs and several arena tickets. Hearthstone gives you what? 1 free pack and 1 arena ticket?

I used to be a MTG player. I started this game because many Japanese pro MTG players are playing it. Also, Cygames has own pro MTG team [team-cygames.com], so I believe they understand what is important for CCG. Although I aware there are some issues needed to be improved, I'm enjoying this game.

I've only played two 3 online CCG's (Elements, Shadow Era, Hearthstone) before Shadowverse.

So far, I can definitely say that Shadowverse is overall better than those other three.

What did you not like about Hearthstone? The game in general plays very much like Hearthstone but removes a lot the unbalanced aspects. The best cards in the game aren't RNG based like Piloted Shredder, and the going first in this game isn't the objectively always beneficial scenario that it is in Hearthstone.

I disliked Hearthstone because its riddled with RNG and p2w.

There are still RNG elements like Hearthstone, but these cards are extremely inconsistant and not used in top decks. As I said, nothing anywhere near as stupid as piloted shredder. Like Hearthstone, if you don't pay it'll take you a bit longer to create a viable deck, but the game is FAR more generious with packs than Hearthstone. The game gives you 40 packs right off the bat and includes sometimes gives good staple cards by playing story mode.

Well then you are far more likely to like this.

And I can also mention that I too couldnt grow to like Hearthstone, but I love this.
