What's with the God awful FPS?
Locked at 30 fps and constantly falls to the low 20's.

Is there anyway to uncap the FPS? I can't get through two minutes of gameplay without being distracted.

Wait for a patch to fix it. Only reason I haven't bought it yet.

try using rivatuner to cap at 30fps. i don't own the game but have read about the issues. this may help smoothen out framerates and times.

This game seems really good from what I've played of it and graphically it looks top-notch. However, the framerate feels decidedly 'off' with a really treacly, sluggish feel to movement and camera control. It's not the 30 fps cap either as I've played PS4 games at 30 fps that have felt perfectly fine to play (WATCH_DOGS 2 for example). Not sure quite why it feels so bad here... poor framepacing perhaps?

Sorry I really like the concept of this game but the framerate is so horrendously jerky that it is offputting. Considering the game barely uses my CPU (25% at most) or GPU (20% on average) then there is really no excuse for it running this badly. Unbelievably it even DIPS below 30 fps on occasion, albeit only by 1 or 2 fps, but it just compounds the game's sluggish movement. It really is game ruining IMO.

yes. it's a clear frametime issue. not hard to fix.
Doctor Hades Apr 20, 2017 @ 4:17pm
I've been playing Yooka-Laylee on my PS4 Pro at a locked 30 FPS, a game that uses the Unity Engine, and it feels perfectly smooth in motion and playable... unlike this game. I find it hard to believe that it even passed quality assurance because it is just so bad. There is no excuse in my book for movement and turning to feel this lethargic, juddery and horrid.

PLEASE FIX THIS!

dude. chill with the complaining and adjectives if you're not going to try a fix yourself that I assure you works. use riveatuner, nvidia inspector etc to cap at 30 and it will solve your problem. note that this can help smoothen out frametimes for just about every game that you play synced to your refresh rate as well, not just said game. just trying to help.

@ movingparts - Believe me, I have tried limiting the framerate to 30 fps using RTSS and even the driver itself but nothing changes the fact that this game feels utterly sluggish and horrible in motion. The only thing I haven't tried is disabling v-sync but since I am sensitive to screen tearing and don't own a G-Sync monitor then it wouldn't be an ideal to play it anyway.

As I said I have no problems with playing games at 30 fps on consoles or even on PC for that matter as long as they are correctly framepaced and responsive. This game isn't.

I am sorry if that offends you but unless people speak up about it then it won't get fixed. It's a shame there isn't a demo because I would very much like to see how it plays on my PS4 Pro. Maybe the GTX 1080 Ti I am getting later on this week will fix it...? ;-)

Hey guys, we’ve had a few people experiencing some issues with choppy frame rate; these seem to be issues for certain hardware set-ups only. The developers are working on fixing this alongside a few other smaller issues, and these will be coming soon. We’ll post more information when we can, but for now we just want to let you know that we hear you and this is top priority for PaperSeven at the moment!
Doctor Hades Apr 28, 2017 @ 5:35am
@ Auseil - I really hope you can fix this issue because I've tried everything, including adjusting the sensitivity slider and even using the mouse and keyboard but movement remains sluggish and offputting (I generally play games with a wireless Xbox One Elite controller). I now have a new EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 card and the game continues to run poorly on it. Despite the 30 fps cap, I still see some framerate dips below that (which really shouldn't be happening on my hardware even at 2560x1440) and turning really is nauseating. It's like the controls have really bad lag with everything that happens on screen coming sometime after I've actually moved the controller.

I really hate to complain like this because as I said earlier I do not mind playing 30 fps games at all (I play as many games on my PS4 Pro as I do my PC) as long as it is correctly frame paced and locked at 30 fps. This game just feels "wrong" to play.

And I really do want to play it as what I've seen so far has been excellent and I love the visual style.

This game caught my eye, but I've been bitten before so always vist the forums first. Glad I found this. I've put it in my wishlist, if the FPS issue is sorted I'll be glad to buy it. My monitoe, and system, is capable of 144Hz so I'm not spending on 30FPS.

They released a patch apparently fixing the framerate issues yesterday, now waiting for people to confirm the performance has improved.

PaperSeven have released a patch now, that should have tackled the frame rate dips you guys have been experiencing! We've posted the patch notes in the news tab if you want to take a look, but let us know if you have any more trouble!

Don't worry about it! If people like you weren't raising these issues we might not be able to tackle them. Check out the patch that PaperSeven have released, this should fix the issues you've been having with the frame rates. Let us know if you have any more issues!
