All these years later and this is still a fun simcade, and suits the Steamdeck really well imho.

for sheer flight fun and pretties, I still don't know a more entertaining ww2 combat game, il2 and DCS are deeper but much to serious for console play and WT is just too p2w for my tastes.

this is scratching my flight itch when I'm not up to booting up the Big PC.

no probs running it on my deck and although some tweaking is needed, any flight sim buff can handle it.

BONUS! One of the few sims that does what I call "soggy clouds". Lovely stuff.

Very late to ask but could you tell me the tweaking it needs to play if you see this message?

I'm interested in getting this as it was my favorite flight game on the PS3.

Does the controller profile work out of the box?

gosh, from what I remember it was mainly mapping controls and getting a control set I was comfortable with.

I seem to remember, but can't confirm, that initially it didn't want to play nice but I *think* messing around with the controls or ingame settings "fixed it"

it's not flawless but I played a few missions!

I posted about this a while back, but you CAN play the game with the original controller support and not have to map anything>

Figured out how to get native controller support working on Steam Deck.

Options > Controls (bottom left) > Devices > Select Layout (bottom left) > Controller Layout: Default (gamepad)

It will then automatically map Xbox 360 controls, which also automatically works with the "Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad" template on your steam deck.

Now go enjoy the old single player War Thunder engine offline and on the go
