RuneScape: Idle Adventures

RuneScape: Idle Adventures

Remove surge!
Surge is still an ability that can be exploited with an autoclicker. This NEEDS to be fixed or removed before the live game. This is such a critical bug!

Which is like, probably why they made it useless in its cooldown in the current build.

As a person who did exactly what you're complaining about, I reached 90 fishing before causing a gamecrashing bug, after six HOURS of spamming it.
that was just one skill and it was going to take another four hours to get 99 had the game gone on.

In an idler, leveling is probably good where it is. It should take longer than what it is in runescape. The four hour cooldown is a punishment for people who exploited it before but now its semi-useful for exploiters and useless as hell for everyone else. It needs to be replaced with a different ability honestly.

tl;dr: The ability is broken and can't be fixed by "rebalancing" it.

How long have you played RuneScape? Compare whatever your answer is to the adv. log/runemetrics / skill highscore for the name spelled out by my LYNE achievements on my steam profile.

Basically, it doesn't take weeks to level up early levels of skills in RuneScape.
On the other extreme end of the bell curve, later levels were taking me a few minutes each with old surge, but I only had the opportunity to level one skill and not to completion.

In RuneScape in November 2014, I played an ironman account and reached 1592 total level with all skills 50+ in 14 days, 10 hrs played.
...And completed 170 quests.
And then I died and stopped playing it, stopped playing RuneScape for a while, but shifted back to my main again and continue playing RuneScape to this day, albeit much less than before.

The thing is every ability can be exploited by autoclickers maybe not as huge as surge but someone can set up an autoclicker to go on while they're asleep on something like hasten so they get ahead. Basically having any kind of abilities in a idle game leaves it open to people using autoclickers.

The surge ability is not fit for an idler, it should be changed to something like completing the active skill x times in y seconds.

There are plenty of idlers with participation devices. Adventure Communist, another Hyper Hippo in development right now relies almost solely on participation [at least in the beginning]

Adventure Capitalist has had numerous events with participation features.

Using an autoclicker to level a skill with 'Surge' in the current build of RS:IA can produce short of three levels per activation from around level 50-55, and when I was able to get to level 90 in the previous build because it had a useable surge ability, it took me six to seven hours to do it, with levels after 70-75 taking multiple activations each.

I can appreciate that an idler is going to be slower than the principle title, but this is just wrongly balanced.
Someone determined to make headway into a skill in RuneScape can expect to complete a skill in under three weeks of time in-game.

This build of RS:IA would have you at around level 50-60 in ONE skill in that time.

I actually agree with this 100%

This wouldnt work unless the skills auto leveled or you had another type of script working because you cant click 2 places at once so your losing out on leveling up skills by doing this

Also auto clickers are used in all idle games really

I dont see the problem.
This game is not multiplayer, if people want to exploit or cheat in single player then its only their game they are spoiling and if thats how they have fun then so be it.

I remember when single player games would have cheat codes built into them.. I really dont understand why people feel the need to control how others have fun when no one ells is effected

It's not that I don't want people to cheat, I don't care since it's singleplayer. I just think that the ability doesn't fit the game well.

how can it be abused even with an autoclicker? the ability lasts 15 seconds and you need to manually stop clicking to level up the skills every few seconds or so, wasting much potential. I tried surge with an autoclicker (40 clicks/s) and I only got farming from lvl6 to lvl9 because of manual need to level up skills. i think its fine.

It's not so much as autoclicker is an abuse compared to the context this ability is in. In clicker games, you click to do more damage, but since you need a gazillion DPS to actually beat anything, the fact that you're clicking 100 times a second versus 1 doesn't make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. If you started a clicker with just 100X the base click damage and you can't use an autoclicker, you would still quickly run into a wall due to how quickly damage scales versus levels.

On the other hand, the time it takes to level up skills is definitely not measured in eons. Since each click takes 25 seconds off the relatively short time (at least compared to damage numbers in clickers) being able to click 100 times faster obviously makes a huge difference.

I think clicking should gather 25 seconds worth of resources but not count toward leveling for the sake of balance.

For the sake of balance I think it should level up a skill but perhaps fastforward that skill 15 or 30 minutes into the future. This way you get the xp up to one level and the resources.

They can click all they want they still have to click on the skills to continue lvling them up. you get maybe get 1-5 lvls when your low at higher lvl's it takes a bit to lvl them up even with a clicker.
