I'm in it for the gameplay only
Same. After having immersed myself long ago in the BlazBlue universe, I've just given up on trying to understand stories of FGs. Though Under Night's story is MUCH better than the latter's nonsense. Sadly, better doesn't mean good. And I'll just say this now, I actually like Under Night's story. That doesn't mean it's good, but coming from where I've been, I like it.
Lol.
Also most of the cast is likable. That's always a plus.
I don't know what I'd do if there wasn't going to be a second game for Under Night In-Birth, because I felt like the story here was "too quick", I guess? It was like summing up what should've been a whole book into 3 paragraphs, if that makes sense.
(Also for some reason the "magic stuff" always comes from some other dimension that barely gets any focus. It just has to be there.)
Oh totally, each character's plot had to make enough space to explain what the hollow night was and go through their motivations and allegiances. We see a little intrigue (Killing In-births may be legal, Chaos and Gordeux working to keep their comrade sealed) but it's mostly straightforward despite like three secret societies lurking around.
But the groundwork's laid and now it's time for it all to go to hell.
